My neighbor has a hot tub and it clocks on and makes a vacuum sounds at like 2am is this normal?

Q. it is loud and we can't sleep..can i say something..bottom line what can they do to make it not hapen.

Answer
almost all hot tubs have filter cycles. Hope fully it is a new one (last 6 years or so). Most tubs will do a 2 hour filter cycle every ten hours. That can be adjusted easily. The big problem might be for you is that the tub might come on for 2 minutes every two-four hours... That vacuum sound by the way is the blower. The really nice thing would be if you could tell us what brand and model the tub is..easier to tell you the solution.........

How to unplug sand in hot tub?

I filled my hot tub up about 2 feet with sand from the beach because I like the way it feels on your feet. The problem is that sand has clogged up the jets and now the water is starting to get moldy. Is there any way to fix this without having to replace the whole system?

It was fine sand from the Jersey shore, if that matters...

Answer
Well that was original and I can even see how it might have felt good, reality time though.

Your tub is actually a very well designed machine for all its simplicity and you have literally thrown sand in its works which you now have to get out, - completely out. That means draining the tub and flushing all the lines clear, with particular attention to the filter and pump. It sounds like you will be bucketing it out for the most part, however there should be a drain valve to assist. Use the garden hose and if you have it, a wet and dry vacuum Hopefully the pump seals are intact. Check it carefully.

If its a good sunny day it could be fun.

Once you think its clear of sand start filling with the hose. Put a bucket under one jet while blocking the others, ( remember Iceage and the acorn collector ), then switch on. Collect all that water, dump it, then do the next jet and so on till clear.

PS- When you get it going again try 1 capful of Badedas in the tub, it foams up and keeps the water hot for longer.

Do you need a skim plate to vacuum an above ground pool?

Puck Dat

If not how do you vacuum

Answer
it depends on the type of pool you have. I use a portable Hayward pump with a filter on it to vacuum both my pool and my hot tub with when there is stuff in the bottom that needs sucked up. I do prime it for the pool and the hot tub when I use it but that to is mostly so I do not get water from my bromine in the hot tub in the pool. as my pool uses chlorine so I rinse it out each time I use it.

what are the bubbles in a hot tub?

Q.

Answer
Yes they are air. There is an air pump that pushes air (think reverse vacuum cleaner) through tubes to the small holes around the sides of the hot tub.

First time hot tub owner. I am trying to stay away from any chemicals. I purchased a start up kit from the The Natural Hot Tub company, which simply put uses seaweed/salt enzymes. On the side of the bottle, it recommendss to use in conjunction with chlorine or bromine. I am confused about that. Wouldn't that defeat the "all natural"approachh? Is it possible to maintain & clean a spa 100% naturally?

Answer
The micro organisms that exist in your warm, wet hot tub are completely natural. Unfortunately, you want an unnatural environment, you want a hot tub that should have a natural population, to be sterile and devoid of life.

Hopefully you'll see the paradox here and understand that 'natural' is a corporate marketing ideology that has nothing to do with nature and everything to do with your vacuum formed thermoplastic, electro-hydraulically powered artificial hot spring.

You can either go and bathe in your local lake (though try not to pollute it with your cosmetic covered body) or try and recreate nature (by your own rules) in your own home. Just understand that 'natural' in this context is about as far from nature as you can get.
