I'm 1-4 weeks pregnant not exactly sure...I'm going to make an appt soon...what are some things that I should avoid & things that I should do?

Answer
Get prepared for morning sickness. I lost a lot of weight during that time (and didn't gain it back until I was 20 weeks) because everything I ate came back up. So packing on 1 or 2 pounds before morning sickness sets in might be a good idea for you. And if morning sickness starts to hit, eat super healthy and keep saltine crackers at hand. It might be the only thing you can keep down.

Start taking vitamins now. I couldn't keep down prenatal pills, so I started taking children's chewable Flintstones. I could keep those ones down, at least, and it's better than nothing.

Make sure you have insurance. I don't and I pay 400+ dollars a month just to see my doctor (and I'm set to pay it for the next 12 months). And that doesn't even include delivery fees and hospital time.

Avoid hot baths (and hot tubs) because it'll raise your body temperature and essentially 'cook' the baby at too high a temperature. If taking a bath, make it warm and not scalding.

Look online for certain foods you should avoid (like certain fish).

Keep your pregnancy a secret from friends and distant family for the first two months. It's really cool having a secret that no one else knows about, and it gives you time to get used to the idea of having a baby. Once people know you're pregnant, you will constantly get questions about it.

If I think of anything else I'll edit this! :) Good luck and congrats!

How to clean house with new baby on the way (MUST READ DESCRIPTION)?

Answer
If you could hire a cleaning company, that would be best. But if not, take each room at a time to clean. Take a bucket of hot water and a all purpose cleaner. Vacuum first and then wipe everything down.
Congrats on your new baby sister or brother,,,everything will work out !

What is the current procedure for obtaining abortion pills in Oklahoma City?

Not plan b pills, but the real pills that are for pregnancies up to 6-9 weeks. A current price would be helpful.

I heard there were new laws put in place recently.

My pregnant friend is 17 going on 18, and I'm over 18. What about parental notices and such?

I'm looking for serious answers not opinions. If you have nothing productive to say then don't say it, because it tells me nothing other than that you have never been in my shoes and are to dense to place yourself in them.

Thank you to all that answer helpfully.

Answer
What are my rights to abortion in Oklahoma?
* If you are under or over 18 years old and want an abortion, you are required to ask your parent/s or guardian for permission, and tell them. This is called âparental consentâ. If thatâs not possible, you are able to ask a judge for permission, or get special permission if itâs an emergency. This is called âjudicial bypass.â
* There is a 24-hour mandatory waiting period in your state before a teen can get an abortion.

*Even if it says you need parental consent, you don't. Call PP and tell them you cannot tell your parents; by law, a judicial bypass must be available to those minors who just cannot get their parents/guardians permission. A judge signs the parental consent acting as a de facto guardian. Abortion funding http://www.nnaf.org/help.html

You will be financially screened - usually this goes on the honor system, weight/height taken, blood pressure checked, pricked -fingertip- to check for rH factor and anemia, you will receive an ultrasound or sonogram to determine gestational age. You may be asked if you want to view the image, this is up to you. You will receive antibiotics, anti-nausea tabs and pain meds. Take them ALL. You must finish at the very least your course of antibiotics. Follow all aftercare instructions and go back to your after care appt. This last step is vital, you must go back for your aftercare appt! Abortion begins a new menstrual cycle. You should have a regular period in 4 to 8 weeks.you should have the option of receiving birth control - again this will most likely be free, take it and use it correctly.

Medical or Pill Abortion
You will take the first pill -mifepristone- The abortion pill works by blocking the hormone progesterone. Without progesterone, the lining of the uterus breaks down, and pregnancy cannot continue. The next day you will take the the pill -misoprostol- that causes your uterus to empty. An pill or medical abortion is just like having a miscarriage. You will pass blood, clots and some tissue. Most miscarriage are accompanied by strong cramping. Your cervix will dilated a bit and uterine contractions will force you to pass the pregnancy.

My experience was good, well as good as having a miscarriage can be. I took my pills and an hour later I got into a very hot bath (to help sooth the cramping I knew was coming) after a few minutes I started cramping and bleeding. My husband helped me out of the tub and I moved to a pallet of blankets covered with towels. Cramping and bleeding out a pregnancy is natural feeling, I would not wish a surgical abortion on anyone but that's just me.

Give it a couple weeks. When a pregnancy ends (no matter how it ends) your hormones will be everywhere, so have patience with yourself and other's. There will be some pain but you should be given pain meds at the clinic for the pain there, they may or may not prescribe something for you to take at home. Ibuprofen and a heating pad are a good way to help the cramps and ache. Always finish your whole course of antibiotics.

PS - This will ask you questions about what you would like out of your birth control and match you up with the one that would work best for you. https://www.plannedparenthood.org/all-access/my-method-26542.htm

The best suggestion I can make for birth control is a Paragard - the reasons I got mine; no hormones, is idiot proof (no pills, patches or rings to remember or forget) and it's good for up to 12 yrs. Also it's compatible with breastfeeding, if you decide to add to your family later. This is the *only* birth control that's 99%+ effective as birth control and 5 - 7 days after sex (emergency contraceptive).

Is it safe to give my pregnant shih tzu a bath?

Paola Andr

I haven't given her a bath in 1 or 2 week because I don't know if it is safe for her.

Answer
A pregnant dog needs grooming just as much as any other dog, but you must be careful of the stomach area. You should not be afraid of bathing her, but be watchful of the pressure placed on the abdomen. Dogs should be bathed at least once a week, depending on the breed of dog you own. Pugs and others that exhibit a large amount of folds in the skin should be bathed every 2 days.

How To Bathe A Pregnant Dog
Step 1
Attach the spray attachment to your water spout in the bath tub if doing this at home. Turn on the hot water and add cold until the temperature is just above room temperature regardless of home or pet store location. Your dog enjoys water a little cooler than you do for a bath.

Step 2
Pick up your girl by placing a hand under the tail area, and one hand under the chest. Lift both ends equally and gently sit her inside the bathing area, whether it be a bath tub or pet store bathing stalls. Spray water over the entire body until the fur is soaked through.

Step 3
Apply an ample amount of dog shampoo to your hands and briskly rub them together. Now apply the shampoo over the dog's coat. Avoid the eyes unless your shampoo specifically says it is tearless and safe for dog's eyes. Use your fingers to rub the shampoo into the mat of the fur to cleanse at the skin level. Make sure to not scrub the genital area with shampoo, as this can cause a yeast infection in pregnant dogs.

Step 4
Rinse the shampoo out of the fur completely using the spray attachment, avoiding the eyes. Cup your hand over the top of the dog's eyes to avoid shampoo residue being washed into them. Use the suds that are left on your hand to gently wipe from front to back in the genital area to cleanse, then rinse completely.

Step 5
Lay a towel down on the floor. Pick your dog up by placing a hand under the tail area and one under the chest to lift out evenly, and place her on the towel. Use another towel to start at the head and dry away the residual water. When drying the tummy area, gently wipe over from side to side until the water is gone.

Tips & Warnings
Depending on how far along your dog is, you may not be able to bathe her. If she only has a week or two left, a bath should be avoided as this can begin early labor due to the excitement. Pugs and other small dogs that exhibit folds on the face should have a wet rag with a small amount of shampoo used on the folds.

Answer
Not to sound like an butt, but the sign is there for a reason!

I know, sad right? That's one thing I do miss, hot tubs and hot baths.

The reason being, you don't want to raise your internal body temperature.
