You didn't say which ship you will be going on and the things that you can do on ship will vary by ship. Many of the newer ships have more activities than there are on the older ships. Older ships would in general be those launched before about 2000. The types and number of activities also varies but Royal Caribbean ship generally have the most activities for you. Things that may be available depending upon the ship:

- use the pools, hot tubs and water slides

use the full service gymnasium with all types of free weights and exercise machines

use the full service spa where you can get hair and nails done and massages and wraps.

- use the sauna and/or steam rooms

- use the mini-golf course and/or a golf driving range or golf simulator

- use the roller blade track and/or an ice skating rink. If there is an ice rink there will be an ice show like the ice capades (Freedom and Voyager Class ships have the ice skating rink, the Voyager Class also has the roller blade track)

-use the surfing simulator, "Flowrider" if you go on a RC Freedom Class ship.

- use the rock climbing wall.

- use the full sized basketball/volleyball/tennis court

- play table tennis

-use the over sized Chess/Checker sets and shuffle board

- use the walking/ jogging track

- play in the video arcade

-use the pool tables (RC Radiance Class ships)

- go to the show room where there will be a show every evening, one for each dinner seating

Royal Carribean Liberty of the Seas?

Ok so im going on royal carribean liberty of the seas soon. When you first get on the boat, what happens. Everyone gets on at once right?? Where do you go? What do you do?? does everyone stay in a lobby?? HELP!

I have cruised on Royal Caribbean about 8 times and here's how it goes:

Boarding generally starts about noon and people will be boarding from then until about 5:00 PM if the ship is sailing at 6:00 PM. You drop your bags with the porters at the pier and go through the checkin line where they inspect your passport and other travel documents and set up your on board account. Then they issue you a cruise card that serves as your room key, pass to get off and on the ship and charge card for everything you buy on ship.

Then you go through the ship's security, just like at the airport. You put all of your carryon stuff on the belt and walk through the metal detector. Then you put your cruise card in a machine at the boarding kiosk and they take your photo, which is then embedded on the magnetic strip on your card (so they know what you look like every time you go off or on the ship). Then they will take boarding photos (you can skip this if you want to).

Then you go onto the ship and the first things most people do is go find their cabin and drop their carryon stuff.

Then you head to the buffet in the Windjammer Cafe for lunch. Its on deck 11 on the back of the ship. The pools, hot tubs, and gym will be open and you can use any of those if you bring clothes and shoes for them on board in your carryon. After you eat, or before, you can wander all over the ship and do whatever you want (of things that are open). If you go to the Spa area by the gym they will give you a tour and explain what things are for sale and how much.

When its near time to set sail the cruise director will be on the pool deck and start a sail away party. Drinks will be for sale and people will be dancing and hanging out all over the ship to enjoy the ship leaving Miami. Some people will be in the pool and others in lounge chairs around it. Some people will be playing basketball, playing mini-golf, or using the "florider" surfing simulator. So the partying and enjoying starts as soon as YOU get on the ship.

What is there to do on a cruise if you are not a drinker?

We are Christians and we do not drink. Is their any thing for us to do on the ship?

There will be plenty for you to do and you can do as much as you want or just relax and watch the ocean go by or the other people. Each day of your cruise you will receive in your cabin a newsletter type flier that will detail everything that will be happening on ship the next day, details by time and location so you can decide what you want to do the next day. So you can be as busy or as relaxed as you want to be. There will be something going on from early mornings, like organized exercise programs, lectures and seminars, bingo, cooking demonstrations, until late at night when the disco is going and the lounges are busy. The ship has a cruise director whose job is to see that passengers have a great time and that person will provide heads ups on things happening the next day and that information will be repeated on the TV set in your cabin.

The things that you can do on ship will vary by the cruise line and the ship can make a difference in how much there is to do. Many of the newer ships of all of the cruise lines have more activities than there are on the older ships. Older ships would in general be those launched before about 2000. I want to go on a cruise this summer...I've never done that before. I see the rates per person but what else should I expect to pay? I've heard there are all sorts of unexpected fees that aren't mentioned. Thanks for your feedback!

Regardless of which cruise line you go on the extras are about the same. The biggest expense after paying your cruise fare is gratuities which will be about $10.00 per person per day. While the gratuities are listed as "suggested" or recommended", please consider them pretty much mandatory as they represent the majority of the wages for the ship's staff who serve you. The gratuities cover the cabin steward (who will clean your cabin twice a day), your waiter and assistant waiter, and the head waiter/matreD. Those are the only people you need to plan on paying gratuities for. (So for a 7 day cruise for two that's $140. total)

When you pay for your cruise it includes all of your meals, breakfast, lunch dinner, snacks, and free room service; you can use all of the facilities on ship like the gym, pools and hot tubs, water slide, ice skating, mini-golf, etc, and all of the shows and the disco and lounges are free also. You get free coffee, tea, milk, juices, and punch but you have to pay for alcoholic beverages and soft drinks. Each beverage order will have a 15% gratuity automatically added to the check. Cruise lines other than Royal Caribbean allow each passenger age 21 or older to bring on board at the departure port one bottle of wine or champagne. So bring one or two for your cabin.

Most cruise lines will push drinks on you, especially the first couple days. Don't think you have to buy drinks to have fun. If you don't drink all day at home or on other vacations, then don't drink all day on ship. Plus you'll quickly run up a very high drinking bill. Then, buy the drink of the day which is usually cheaper, by at least a dollar or more. Also ask for your drinks in a plain glass rather than the souvenir glasses they will be offering. This will save you about $1.50 per drink.

The cruise lines will offer a lot of interesting tours but they will be expensive. You DO NOT have to buy tours to get off the ship in port stops. You can go off on your own and many times in Caribbean and Bahamas ports you can find cheaper tours on the pier. Lots of places in the Caribbean you can get to a beach by taxi much cheaper then the ship's tours. Do some Google search of your port stops to locate the best beaches and get names of tour operators and book your own. Just make sure that you get back to the ship on time.

Most ships have several "specialty" restaurants. There is plenty of free food on ship 24/7 so there really no reason to pay to eat in a specialty restaurant in ship. You'll not be able to eat all of the great free food. The specialty places charge a fee between about $10 and $25 per person per visit. Just eat the free food; it will be great.

Cruise lines will take lots of photos of you boarding the ship, getting off in ports, at dinner, on formal nights, around the ship. These will be very expensive ($10 to $25) so take your camera with you all of the time and take your own photos and ask other passengers to take photos of you, they will gladly.

The ships have internet service but it is very expensive; likely about $50 an hour. Wait until you get to a port stop and find an internet cafe. Ask the wait staff and your cabin steward because they generally know where they are. The internet cafes on shore generally charge between $2. and $5. for an hour.

If you tend to munch at night, bring along your favorite snacks so you will not be tempted to take anything out of the mini-refrig and have to pay for it.

The gym on ships is free but you do have to pay for spa services like massages, nail and hair appointments, and wraps. And these are expensive too.

how do i drain my royal spas knight hot tub?

i have a royal spas hot tub(knight edition) and i had it drained but there's still some water left in there. The problem is i cant find where it drains. Any ideas?

You will find a drain spigot behind the cabinet underneath the main controls. Most hot tubs do not come with the bottom drain recessed into the spa's floor so they do not fully drain. I use a shop vac to first blow the lines out and get the water inside the jet lines and then I put it on suction and suck out the rest of the old water..

How are Royal Spa hot tubs?

I've been to the Royal Spa manufacturer in Indy and they have a Sultan model I'm interested in. Do you know anything about them that I should know about? I'm very interested in their model and would like some insight on the company. A thorough google search did not help much.

What I have found out is most spa's are alike just got different shapes and maybe the type of material that is used to make them.
If you get a good name brand like the one you are looking at you will enjoy it for a very very long time.
You just got to know that there is upkeep to the unit that you have to do and do often more the more you use it.
Look at how good is the material that they use and how thick is it (thicker the better).
What size pump do you need and what size and type heating unit do you need.
Like I say stay with a very good name brand and you will love.

Just know you can go cheap, But you will pay in the long run.

Ask the company about % of returns that they have will give you a good idea if they are good or not.
