We are going to vegas apr 30- may 3 for our honeymoon. I would love to have a jacuzzi/hot tub in the room. Really want a more modern romantic feel. What hotel would you recomend and also which room. Pics would be great if possible thank you
also are there any honeymoon perks?
would prefer not to spend more than $700-800 for 3 nights

Answer
Well first of all I want to congrats you for your marriage :)
Vegas has many hotels, some are really worth it.
Hotels that are new like Red Rock or Wynn, the hotel room are really pretty. Hotels like Orleans or Gold Coast the hotel are like regular motels but bigger.
I stay at Red Rock and Wynn several times and I like it, the hotel is really clean.
At Wynn its near the strip, Average about two hundred dollars per a night for a resort room. The pool area is really nice and you can rent cabana. If you like to shop then I recommend you to go there. There isnt much there but its beautiful and it's on the strip.
Take a look:http://www.wynnlasvegas.com/

At Red Rock most of the hotel rooms are the same. The regular hotel rooms offer two queen size bed or one king size bed, you get to choose. Its 125$ per a night but totally worth it. You get entrance to a big pool with hot tubs. Also at the hotel you can do a lot of things, from movies to arcade to bowling to clubs. There is also Spa for the lady to enjoy. Theres also a signature suite $225, which is very worth it.
The bad thing about this hotel is, it is by the mountains not the strip about 20 minute ride to the strip which isnt bad.
http://www.redrocklasvegas.com/index.php

Mirage is next.
The hotel offers volcanol shows, Siegfried & Roy's Secret Garden & Dolphin Habitat,Aquarium, and Atrium, (entertainments)
A 3 night stay for deluxe tower is 817 dollars and the room is really gorgeous and fancy, worth it for sure.
This is also near the strip, and the pool is really gorgeous. The gorgeous out of all las vegas.
http://www.mirage.com/

I am getting lazy to type so Ill just summarize the last two hotels I recommend.

Mandalay Bay
The pool is very large and spectacular. Theres the shark reef, which is a must see even tho its not as romantic, but still fun. The pool once again if you enjoy water then I recommend this hotel is the best for you guys.
http://www.mandalaybay.com/

Venetian
This is the fanciest hotel I've ever seen. It also has romantic things to do, like riding the gondolas. The pool area is really plain tho. The hotel is base on the theme italy.
Check it out:http://www.venetian.com/

Overall it depends on what you like.
Romantic: Venetian
Fun: Red Rock
Pools: Mirage and Mandalay Bay
Views:Wynn

GOOD LUCK!

Vacation rental owners: Have you added new amenities to your property, and has this increased rentals?

I rent a house to vacationers in Florida and I am considering adding some new amenities. Which of the following do you think renters look for? Bicycles, Kayak or Canoe (we are on the water), Spa (hot tub), King size bed instead of Queen, Outdoor Kitchen, a supply of soap and spices?

We have: DSL wireless, pool, private dock, portable charcoal grill, cable tv in family room and master bedroom, surround, AC, blow dryers in both baths.

Answer
I think Bicycles and King bed upgrade would be the most important
I rent the house in Disney area in Windsor Hills and when I purchased the furniture this was the first thing I did-upgraded for King
It was only $300 more for 2 beds but is now very good selling point.
My management Co is supplying soap so it is not an issue
Crib would be a good addition too

Our hot tub is drained and there is rough, calcium scale on the surface. We would like to remove it to make the surface smooth again. Someone recommended distilled water. That is not working! Any suggestions? Thank you!

Answer
Lime-A-Way is made exactly for that purpose:
http://www.acehardware.com/largeImage/index.jsp?LargeImageURL=http%3A//ACE.imageg.net/graphics/product_images/pACE2-1216496dt.jpg

You could also use dilute hydrochloric (muriatic) acid, but you should take care not to let it come in contact with any metal fittings or the plumbing. Use gloves, a spray bottle, and/or a sponge.

Water bed heater to supplement inflatable hot tub inflatable spa heat?

cobinrox

Just got one of those inflatable spa / inflatable hot tubs. It works pretty well, I was surprised, but the water temperature is a little week. Anyone think a waterbed heater might help it reach optimal temperature? The spa walls are made of a vinyl product.

Answer
Unfortunately you just found out why they are cheaper. The heaters are 115v and can only make the temp go up around 1.5 degrees an hour. The nice thing is that they are cheap to operate with the coil heater around the pump. The sad part is that they are expensive to fix and there isn't any way to suppliment the heat. I have played around with some of our soft tub customers for years. I don't think much of the product. Wish i could help you. Be careful and do not let any type of immersion heater if you go that route neary the walls or you can melt them.

I love the ocean and my fiance likes it, but it not crazy about it like me. We thought of Vegas, but it will be too hot in June. We both agreed that Poconos is out and so is Niagra Falls. Can you guys give us some ideas of honeymoon suites that offer big round tubs, whirlpools, private hot tubs out doors and etc?

Answer
Sandals has great all-inclusive packages and they have many locations. you're best bet is to visit a travel agent and tell them what you are looking for.
I just got back from my honeymoon, we went to Dominican Republic, Punta Cana the resort was called Excellence and it was excellent. it was all-inclusive and we had a great time!
we had a hot tub in our room, some rooms had a hot tub in their room and on their private balcony. they had a few secluded outdoor jacuzzi's and a waterfall pool. A big swim up bar and the ocean was just a few feet away...we had the best of both worlds...

good luck and congrats

I have been purchasing the hot tub fragrance from the store but wondered if there is something cheaper that is in my household? Thanks

Answer
The Pool repair guy is very correct in not adding household products to your spa, even though not for his stated phosphate reason since the type of phospate that will be used will not be anything that could be used for energy by algae, especially if your sanitizer level is good. I am not interested in selling you anything ...BUT!.... if you do like vanillia, you can use vanillia extract that you would use for baking. The only two fragrance manufactures on the market I like that do not change your water's chemistry is Spazzaz and Being from Baquaspa. Both should last months and really are not very expensive. If you find you like Spazzaz's fragrances like their popular Honey Mango you can always look at Ebay compared to your local pool and spa store if they are expensive. We use to sell 6 brands and by far Spazzaz out sold all of them.

Laughing!!! Critic the others and get a bad rate Imagine that! Sorry buddy I am not hear to pitch a sale. Neither should you over and over.....

I want to buy a hot tub for my arthritis and exercise (water resistance) but am not sure which one to buy?

Valerie R

I have signed a contract to purchase a Catalina swim spa for $21,000.00 but am not sure I want it now. It's 8x 15 x 5 ft tall. I have no place to put it and am not sure I can or even want to crawl in and out of something 5 ft tall every day. I want a hot tub or something similar for my arthritis and water resistance exercise. I live in OKC and am 55 yrs. old. Any suggestions on the brand hot tub, swim spa or other?

Answer
I do not recommend Catalina Spas. The reason is their warranty is awful. One year for labor, Then this crazy 7 year prorated warranty kicks in that covers most everything for 3 years then you get hit for 50%. So your 5hp pumps are going to cost you 300 bucks a piece. Whew! Swimming is great for arth. and warm water. Perhaps look at a Coast Spa Wellness model spa. It's not a swim spa. For swim spas perhaps a Cal Spa with a combo hot tub. Be sure to look at the warranty on all of them. No prorated crap, since there's no reason to make the dealer richer. A decent cheap swim spa I have worked on was ALPS. Good components, Balboa waterway pumps. Bad warranty but the price makes up for it.

By the way...get yur Doctor to write a scrip for it! Tax dedut. then!!!

Which of these hotels should I stay at in Las Vegas?

LondonFall

We're going on a Las Vegas trip in a few weeks and are trying to decide on a hotel. We've narrowed it down to a few, but want to know if the money is worth it for these hotels and if they really are amazing to stay at. Let me know if you've stayed at the following and what your opinion is of them...

--Mandalay Bay
--MGM Grand
--Mirage
--Treasure Island

I know none of these are the most amazing hotels or anything, but we want to stay at a cheaper hotel so use our money elsewhere...Thanks!!

Answer
I would recommend either Mandalay Bay or MGM Grand. Either hotel works, depending on what you're looking for. Here are a few things to consider before you make your choice.

Location: Both MGM Grand and Mandalay Bay are located at the south end of the Strip. Mandalay Bay offers a free tram that connects to Luxor and Excalibur. You can also walk inside through connectors to access Luxor and Excalibur. MGM Grand has a Las Vegas monorail station, so you can easily hop on the monorail and access the rest of the Strip.

Atmosphere: Mandalay Bay has a more casual, laidback, and upscale atmosphere. MGM Grand has a similar atmosphere, but tends to cater toward a younger crowd. Either way, both resorts offer amazing service.

Accommodations: Both resorts have very nice rooms and suites that are nicely appointed. Mandalay Bay and The HOTEL at Mandalay Bay offer a variety of rooms and suites that have a south sea theme, while MGM offers a variety of nice accommodations, ranging from regular hotel rooms and suites, to West Wing rooms, SKYLOFTS, and high roller suites at The Mansion. They also offer nice suites at The Signature at MGM Grand. Whatever way you choose to go, you will find exceptional service and a helpful staff throughout the resort.

Dining: Mandalay Bay offers a number of different dining options, ranging from fine dining (MIX, Fleur de Lys, Aureole, China Grill, Shanghai Lily, Red Square, Trattoria Del Lupo, rumjungle, Rick Moonen's RM Seafood, and STRIPSTEAK) to casual dining (Giorgio Ristorante, Border Grill, House of Blues, Burger Bar, Red, White and Blue, Verandah, Noodle Shop, the cafe, and the Bayside Buffet). MGM Grand offers similar options, with fine dining at Joel Robuchon, L'Atelier, CraftSteak, Fiamma, Nobhill, Shibuya, Seablue, and a couple other restaurants, along with casual dining at Emeril's, The Grand Wok, Studio Cafe, Rainforest Cafe, the Buffet, Wichcraft, and the deli.

Nightlife: Mandalay Bay doesn't have that much nightlife, while MGM has the Studio 54 Nightclub.

Entertainment: Cirque du Soleil "KA" You might also check their website at www.mgmgrand.com to see a listing of traveling shows that will be at their Garden Arena to see if something is there when you visit. Mandalay Bay offers Disney's The Lion King, but you might also check their website at www.mandalaybay.com to see what traveling shows might be at their Events Center.

Gaming: Both resorts offer an array of gaming to suit anyone's desires.

Other Amenities: Both resorts have nice spas and salons, along with fantastic pool areas. MGM's Grand Pool Complex is absolutely fantastic, with a number of pools, hot tubs, and a lazy river. It is hard to beat the pool area at Mandalay Bay, with a wave pool with real sand, a lazy river, and other pools. They also offer a poolside casino. Mandalay Bay offers the Shark Reef Exhibit, while MGM offers the Lion Habitat exhibit. Finally, both resorts offer a few shops, even though the shops at Mandalay Place are nicer.

Neither resort is particularly smokey, although Mandalay Bay does a better job by infusing a coconut smell in its air conditioning. Also, few people notice, but Mandalay Bay turns the sound off on all their machines, so the casino is slightly quieter than others. Finally, the weather in April should be absolutely beautiful (pretty warm, but not overly hot). As a result, it would be a perfect time to enjoy the outdoors and especially the pool. While Mandalay Bay does have a fantastic pool, the pool at MGM is also very nice, so don't make the pool your deciding factor.

Either way, you're sure to have a wonderful trip to Las Vegas.

Good luck and I hope you enjoy your trip!

these? This is a PDC spa that is only 2 1/2 years old. I manage to "reconnect" the pieces only to have them flying about with the next use. When they are reconnected, not all of them have adequate output now. I can't afford $70/visit for a different 2 or 3 apart and flying about for the repair person. (No warranty because I bought the house with the hot tub in place.) Help, it's a $7000 hot tub that just doesn't work well.
ScubaBob, I would have emailed you if you had provided a way to contact you through Yahoo answers. The company that installed the pool is in trouble with the state attorney general (not from me although I have no difficulty in understanding how and why this situation has happened.) The only other authorized repair place is very difficult to deal with since they did not install the pool and I don't think their repair person is that good. Any place to view these tools online?

Answer
Most spa jets require a special tool to get them properly seated, I'm afraid. You can take an example of your jet ( there are many types) into your local spa and pool shop and ask them for the right tool. It can cost from 10 bucks to 50 bucks, depending on the make of jet.
It's not uncommon for some of these jets, particularly the rotary kind, to eventually work themselves out, even if you did manage to T tape them. I tend to shy away from T taping, as you may inadvertantly cover up the air injection holes, making that jet only spit water and no air.
The reason the jets aren't all functioning as they ought to at the moment, is that with even just one jet missing, that particular return outlet is the easiest route for the water to go. It'll steal flow from the others.

Edit: In answer to your additional details. Many jets on commercially made tubs, come from a source such as Hayward or Jacuzzi, to name just two. Rarely are these jet fittings made by the actual tub manufacturer. The only one that comes to mind, being HotSprings for example. Unless you can ID the manufacturer of the fitting, it would be difficult to find an online resource to get a tool. Your best, cheap bet is still to take it into a spa shop and have them ID it and go from there.
Sorry about my Email not being posted, but I was cyber stalked by a nut case in the Canada travel section of this site and have no desire to have it happen again. Sorry, he ruined it for me as well.

What is the best cruise for my family?

Sam

Hi, my family of six is looking at taking a cruise this summer for the first time and don't really know what criuse is best for us. Me and my wife are 46, my daughter is 18, my sons are 14, 13, and 9. We want to find a ship with activities that will interest all of our children. Any suggestions?

Answer
Definitely a Royal Caribbean cruise in the Voyager Class. The ships all have about the same things so look for the cheapest deal you can get because with 6 people, a cruise could get pricey. Maybe not the room itself would be expensive but the shore excursions and food would.

Since you and your wife are 46 years old each, the Voyager class has amazing pools and hotubs for you to relax in. If you aren't the water type like my mom, you can relax on the deck chairs and read a good book, tan or simply take a nap. You can also go to the casino or grab a drink.

The Voyager class has many things that can interest your children. Since your daughter is 18, she is classified as an adult and can no longer participate in the teen activities. However, being 18 the spa is a very appealing idea and she can get a manicure/pedicure for a reasonable price. Your daughter might also like the promenade, two whole decks devoted to shopping. This is only on Voyager class ships and they have many stores for her to shop and window shop in. They also have daily sales and in the middle of the cruise they will have their $10 dollar sale when most items only cost $10! There is also a Ben and Jerrys store for her to indulge in. The Daily Newletter you will get everday highlights ship activites all people of all ages can attend. Some are really fun like a scavanger hunt or a disco dance. Since she is 18, she is legally allowed to go to the dance clubs and meet others her age.

For your other kids, the boys, they will most certainly have a blast! The teen and children program is most appealing. For your youngest son, he can particpate in a circus, talent show and kids only dance. They also get scheduled activites throughout the whole day to keep him occupied. He can meet kids his age and they can do things together like the pool. There is also a large slide in Adventure Beach (onboard) for him to go in. And if your kid likes Johnny Rockets, they have that too. For dining, on special days, your son could eat with the other kids and staff at the cafe.

For the other boys, they can go to Feul, the all teen lounge. Feul is amazing because they have the chance to either do an activity or just relax. The area has their own non-alcoholic bar, DJ station and T.Vs fully equipped with a Wii, Playstation and videogames boys their age love! Believe me, my brother wouldn't leave Feul. The lounge also has competions like rock-climbing and ping-pong. I went to Feul and I really liked it. We could go in the talent show and at night, the hot tubs are reserved for teens only. At the end of the cruise, there is a teen-only party.

There are many family bonding things on the cruise too for all ages to have fun. You can go skating, either at the ice rink or the inline skating. There is also a full sports board with mini-gulf, track and a baskeball rink. You can all go rock-climbing or have fun playing ping-pong. Some families like playing video games together in the arcade. The shows play every night at the theatre and you can all go together as a family. The shows vary from comdey to dance so check your newsletter to see what is on. There is also bingo and shuffleboard for the whole family to do to win prizes. The restaurants all have great food but if you are more casual, you can always go to the buffet called Windjammer. Of course there is more but I think you get my point.

Check this site for more info http://www.royalcaribbean.com/findacruise/ships/class/ship/home.do;jsessionid=0000DC5qTOQt34HTK22sDrFJ-TQ:13hldcgo7?br=R&shipClassCode=VY&shipCode=EX

Have fun on your cruise, I suggest the Adventure of the Seas because that is the one I went on but they all have the same things. Remember, voyager class!

do i need any re-bar or other support for laying a concrete pad for a 7x7ft 6 person hot tub?

Geege

I'm planning on pouring a 7x7 concrete pad for a hot tub. I dont know exactly what type of concrete to buy and do i need to re-enforce the 4" of concrete any further. I'm planning on just digging into the ground 4 inches and then filling it up with the concrete. Dont care how it looks because the hot tub will be surrounded by a deck and you wont see the bottom.

Answer
My brother and I did this two years ago for his "tubby" in the California Sierra Nevada foothills

We went down to clay (3"), put down an inch of pea-gravel, put up a 2x4 pour frame, suspended wire mesh at half-depth, poured the concrete, screeded and finished the surface

That has lasted just fine for two icy and snowy winters with a FULL tubby. We plan to do the deck this winter, since we have had other projects sucking away money (barn and fencing, irrigation, and a swamp-cooler).

Good Luck !!

Good place in England to go camping with friends near a beach?

outdoor hot tub wood fired

outdoor hot tub wood fired image

Jamie

Hey guys, me and some friends are planning to go camping for a few days in the summer holidays. We're looking for somewhere really nice with a beach but not somewhere too overpopulated, tacky or somewhere deserted.

Basically we want to chill on a beach at night with a fire, bbq and some alcohol just have a laugh.

We're located in the South but can drive or get the train any reasonable distance say 4 hours away.

Answer
Almost every bit of beach in UK fires are illegal. Far out places and proper smoke control maybe you'll get away with it but the fines can be very heavy. A couple of big portables stoves would be a better idea but the atmosphere isn't the same sat around a stove with a couple of guitars.
I've camped in every county along the south coast on beaches, the Purbeck Hills, South Downs, Dartmoor, Exmoor, all sorts, scrimmed up in a small green tent and with fires that are very well controlled.
I was an outdoor instructor in the Army so I can do 'stealth' fires and stay hidden reasonably OK, but every fire sends a signal of sorts either on the wind or by eye. Keeping the signal low is the idea.
That's not the idea with a big fire to sit around happily boozing and singing or whatever.
The ...maybe best....OK, I'll spill it out....best beach I know for convenience versus scenery and places to hide a tent is at Studland Bay which you can get to over the ferry at Sandbanks.
The bus from Bournemouth to Swanage, No50, goes over on it too.
Details on here.
http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20090725164851AA4Gb30 . . . . .
Twenty minutes from the middle of Bournemouth and after the five minute ferry ride get off the bus the other side (there's a stop for the Studland beach) and walk along the beach for a mile. The public footpath to Swanage goes along there too, and half a mile of the beach is a nudist beach (first in UK, many years old, and some of the punters look like originals too)
There is an alternative path inland, well marked, to bypass it for those who want to.
In the summer it's busy but further along past the heather and the National Trust centre and car park which is OK for meals and coffees and has a cold shower outside for the swimmers, and then past the scrub wood and then it gets fine.
The woods give loads of firemaking materials but care is needed anywhere you go in UK if you want a fire so my normal advice is...don't bother.
Without a lot of experience even for a simple thing like a fire, you could be paying out money to the courts quite easily.
See mine on here for camping wild and Eleanor knows the score too.
http://uk.answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20090401125151AASteKR . . . . .
Here's the gaff about fires...for the Peak District but applies all over UK.
The guy on top carries a washing machine tub eh? Hell of a backpack he's got.....
http://uk.answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20090918025837AAt7Yz6 . . . . . .
Bournemouth is hot. Not the staid retirement place of old.
It's got hot dance clubs, good food, and a long busy blue flag beach for the non-camping days, with plenty of entertainment.

|Newquay is more used to beach parties and fires than most places in UK, but not huge Guy Fawkes fires. You can get some good times in the coves overnight with the 'hot' visitors who know of Newquay's reputation and want some of it for themselves ( be careful of underage jailbait dressed up as older) and beach sleeping is fairly common but not a great idea in blowy weather which can raise the tides higher than the normal mark and catch people out...I live on an island, seen it loads of times at home and in Newquay, which gets a good surf running ...hence the boarding championships held there....take care.
Out of town at Crantock is a great campsite with good facilities but no fires are allowed.

Brighton gets good beach parties with small fires overnight but it's all pebbles. I've had a few good nights sleeping under the pier, and not alone.......but it's awkward for a tent unless you have strong steel pegs and a hammer to ram them through the pebbles, and there is nowhere conveniently close enough to put one up anywhere else

There are hundreds of places reachable by public transport. Have fun, take care, and be brave.
Fortune favours the brave, but not the just plain daft, haha. Have a think about any place you get to, how to look 'non-camping' if necessary, and how to get out again.
First thing, anywhere you go...nightclub, town, valley, county, country...can I get out?I've traveled on five continents. That's the important bit. No getting out...no going home.
Mind those late buses that don't run, haha
Have fun.

Where can I find building plans for an outdoor sauna, and a woodfired hot tub?

I looked everywhere but couldn't find any, thanks for any help! :D

Answer
You can find some links to sauna building resources on Saunascape. For heaters, I've heard good things about Kumma stoves.

For the wood fired hot tub, that's harder. Snorkel will sell you just the stove. However, if you're looking to build a wooden tub, you need skills as a cooper.

Good luck.

Can anyone recommend any specific eastern Caribbean cruise destinations & cruise lines?

TC

My wife & I have never taken a cruise, and we're looking to take one next spring sometime. She's wanting to go to the Virgin Islands and some other eastern Caribbean destinations. Anyone have any suggestions on a particular destination and/or specific cruise line?

Answer
I have been on about 20 cruises with five different cruise lines and cruised all of the Caribbean routes and Mexico. Here's what I recommend based on my experiences.

There are two factors to consider when planning a cruise (1) what activities are on ship and the demographics of the other passengers, and (2) what port stops will be made that I will enjoy.

I have been on Norwegian, Royal Caribbean, Holland America, Celebrity and Princess. All of these are good cruise lines. Royal Caribbean cruise line has some of the best on board activities including on various ships, ice skating or roller blading, mini-golf, table tennis, rock climbing wall, basketball court and on the new Freedom class ships, Liberty, Freedom and Independence of the Seas the flowrider where you can body surf right on ship. There are always pools and hot tubs and many ship have a Solarium (a cover area) with a pool and hot tubs for adults only. This is in addition to the regular pool and hot tubs for everyone. Some ships have water slides.

All of these lines have ships have great gymnasiums with a variety of equipment. The RC's Freedom and Liberty have THE best gyms I have ever seen on ships.

You did not say where you live but you can cruise to the Caribbean from as far north as NY City. And, the Caribbean gives you many more options for itineraries, for departure ports (cruises go to the Caribbean from as far north as NY City and then all over Florida, plus New Orleans, Houston (Galveston) Texas, and Mobile, Alabama. So the Caribbean offers many more departure ports, ships, dates and options. And, for example if you want to go on the cruise lines newer ships your best bet is to go Caribbean out of Port Canaveral, Ft Lauderdale, or Miami, Florida.

The main things that you want to do is book very early and by that I mean 9 to 12 months or more in advance so that you can get the best price. All you need is a $250 to $300 deposit per person to book and hold your reservation and then you just pay it in full by 70 days beforfe the cruise. Also in the Caribbean you want to try to stay away from the hurricane season which in June through the end of October. Secondly, look for the specials that will be listed on each cruise line's web site. Let that help determine when and where to go.

There are really three basic types of itineraries for the Caribbean. Western Caribbean cruises typically go to Cozumel, Grand Cayman, Jamaica and a private cruise line island. If you go to Cozumel there is the opportunity to buy a tour to see Mayan ruins, if that's your interest. Its considered the best place to go for scuba and snorkeling. If you go to Jamaica the two main attractions are a river raft float trip (not rapids) and the Dunn's River Falls climb. If you go to Grand Cayman you will likely want to go to 7-Mile Beach or do a swim with the dolphins/stingrays tour.

Cruises to the Eastern Caribbean typically go to St Thomas, St Maarten, a private cruise line island and maybe another island like Tortola or Puerto Rico. If you want to do a lot of shopping then pick a cruise with St Thomas as one of the port stops. St Maarten is also mainly a beach and shopping stop.

Most Eastern and Western Caribbean cruises have a private island stop where the ship takes food ashore for an all day beach party with games and entertainment. All of the cruise lines have what they call their private island and you can have a great day on these islands; only ship's people on them for the day. Royal Caribbean has THE best private island I have ever been to at Labadee, Haiti. Its a huge place that has multiple beaches and many activities. RC's ships the Freedom and The Liberty which do both the Eastern and Western Caribbean itineraries both have stops at Labadee.

The Southern Caribbean cruise itineraries typically start in Puerto Rico and go either to Aruba, Curacao, and St Thomas and St Maarten, OR they go to the southern Caribbean islands like Barbados, Grenada, Antigua, St Lucia and maybe St Thomas and/or St Maarten. For the most part these latter islands are very much alike but nice to see. The main difference between these two Southern Caribbean itineraries, aside from the different islands, is the Aruba cruise has two "at sea" days with no port stops, while the other has a port stop about each day.

My favorite cruise line is Royal Caribbean but you cannot go wrong with Celebrity, Princess or Holland America. If you are looking for a real budget cruise and a party ship go on Carnival. If you want to basically be informal the whole cruise go on Norwegian. Finally, while you are looking at cruises pay attention to the ship and when it was launched. The best cruises will be on the newer ship, those launched about 2000 or later. That's my experienced opinion and advice.

If all of this does not answer your questions just go to a travel agent, like an AAA or American Express office, and they will answer your questions and help you book at no cost

i have a 1985 Hot Spring hot tub that is having temperature problems. 1 day i will check and the temperature is below 90 degrees and checking it a few days later i will check and it is over 100 with no adjustments made! i have tried to get a manual for it but have had no luck. i need some kind of diagrams that could show me what does what. i believe that it is somewhere in the heater or the thermostat. no dealer wants to help me, that hurts business. if anyone could give me some advice i would really appreciate it.

Answer
It could be a lot of things, could be just a sticky relay on the circuit board, would really have to get in there with a voltage tester while it is not working right. At the age of your spa I might think about replacing the controller/heater with a new spa pack, I was having repeated component failures, then gave up a got a new spa controller from ebay.

Any cheap ideas to make my hot tub smell good?

noone2day

How much would it cost to heat a hot tub 4 a month? Is it cheaper to leave it on all month or heat each use?

projected3

My roommates and I have a hot tub, but don't want to pay to heat it up all month. This gets annoying when you have to turn it on 3 hours in advance to when you want to use it. Some people say it would be cheaper to heat it once and leave it on then having to re-heat the entire thing every time (once or two times a month). I just want to leave the thing on all month...anybody know an estimated cost for heating it for the whole month?

Answer
According to this link http://www.energyideas.org/documents/factsheets/spatips.pdf#search='hot%20tub%20on%20or%20off' it says to install a timer.

We're trying to find a way to move a hot tub from one home to another...the hot tub is in Indiana and residence is in Ohio. The largest rental truck (U-Haul) is only 7 ft. wide and 6 1/2 ft. tall and the hot tub is 8 ft. in diameter. We don't have a hitch so we can't use a trailer. Are there companies who will move such a thing from one state to another?

How can we know if our porch is strong enough to support a hot tub?

pamusicgir

We want to buy a small two person hot tub and put it on our kitchen porch (which is really large). What kind of professional should we have in to tell us whether our porch can support that kind of weight? Can someone at the hot tub place tell us, or is there some kind of contractor who can answer this question?

Answer
The hot tub place can tell you ,if you give them some measurements. Have to look under the porch to see what size of floor joists you have - 2x8 or 2x10, 16 inches apart or more. Give them the numbers of all measurements you can make. This information would be needed by a contractor too.

How long do you have to wait to take a bath after getting a new tattoo?

best 2-3 person hot tubs image

Meemee

I cleanse the tattoo and take showers, but just curiuos as to how long a person has to wait to soak in an actual bath without doing any damage. Please any advise would be great help.

Answer
You must keep your tattoo clean, however, long showers or baths must be avoided for 2 weeks. Prolonged soaking can and will loosen scabs if any have formed, or will soak through the soft tissue and cause your ink to flow down the drain. This includes Swimming in the Ocean or a Pool, Hot Tubs, and Saunas. Short showers are best, under ten minutes if possible.

Wash the tattoo using your fingertips or hand only.
Use a mild antibacterial soap and warm water.
Take care to remove all traces of blood as this will cause scabbing. Do not scrub the tattoo with a washcloth during the two week healing period. Always gently pat the tattoo dry with a clean soft cloth or just let it air dry

Do not submerge the tattoo in water of any kind for at least 2-3 weeks.

These are straight form on eof the Best American tatto artists, my tattoo artist gave m some bad tips and my tattoo beagn to give me problems, and change, I contacted her at her shop long distance and she sent me an email. I follwed them and immediatly my tattoo was better.

how to keep a belly ring from getting infected?

chocoholic

I'm planning on getting my belly ring done soon and I have a few questions.
1) how can I keep it from getting infected?
2) Is it likely to rip out?
3) how long do I have to wait before going in a pool?
4) after the first year, do I still have to wash it every day?
5) can I work out if I have the belly ring?

Please answer if you've gotten a belly piercing yourself!

Answer
1.) rinse with dial antibacterial soap or other gentle antibacterial soap 2-3 times daily. also soaking it in sea salt increases healing time. dissolve 1/8 of a teaspoon with 8oz of warm water and make a compress with the solution for ten minutes ONLY once daily. too much can dry out the tissue. some piercing places have sea salt sprays you can buy. no hydrogen peroxide.
2.) i have had mine pierced for 3 years and it has only snagged on clothes but nothing painful. you feel the tug and you stop pulling. very unlikely to rip out
3.) it can take 6-9 months to completely heal. even if it looks healed, it may not be completely, but all bodys are different. pools and hot tubs are filled with chemicals that can irritate the piercing and possibly infect it. and no natural bodies of water, even the ocean. i waited two months, but listen to the person who gives the piercing
4.) no, besides the normal everyday shower
5.) yes, you may be sore for the first few months, so i wouldnt reccommend contact sports. just wear a simple piercing when you work out

this was what my piercer told me, but listen to yours if they say anything different

How long will it take to heat up my 500 gallon 110 volt hot tub?

hot tub $500 image

prateradri

My husband and I got a hot tub last sunday and had to replace the heating element. It has now taken 17 hours to raise 20 degrees. Is there something wrong or do I just need to learn some patience??

Answer
I have a 110 volt hot tub that uses the heat from the motor stator to heat up the water (when the motor runs, the tub water passes through tubing in the motor, heating it up). I seem to remember that it does heat up about 1 degree an hour or so (they told me it would take about 48 hours to fully heat the water). But, I have an on-demand water heater. So, I just fill up the tub with hot water using a hose connected to the hot water spigot for the washing machine.

Want to use all natural cleanser. Do I need to use with chlorine or bromine?

Gale

First time hot tub owner. I am trying to stay away from any chemicals. I purchased a start up kit from the The Natural Hot Tub company, which simply put uses seaweed/salt enzymes. On the side of the bottle, it recommendss to use in conjunction with chlorine or bromine. I am confused about that. Wouldn't that defeat the "all natural"approachh? Is it possible to maintain & clean a spa 100% naturally?

Answer
The micro organisms that exist in your warm, wet hot tub are completely natural. Unfortunately, you want an unnatural environment, you want a hot tub that should have a natural population, to be sterile and devoid of life.

Hopefully you'll see the paradox here and understand that 'natural' is a corporate marketing ideology that has nothing to do with nature and everything to do with your vacuum formed thermoplastic, electro-hydraulically powered artificial hot spring.

You can either go and bathe in your local lake (though try not to pollute it with your cosmetic covered body) or try and recreate nature (by your own rules) in your own home. Just understand that 'natural' in this context is about as far from nature as you can get.

How to unplug sand in hot tub?

Felix Jone

I filled my hot tub up about 2 feet with sand from the beach because I like the way it feels on your feet. The problem is that sand has clogged up the jets and now the water is starting to get moldy. Is there any way to fix this without having to replace the whole system?

It was fine sand from the Jersey shore, if that matters...

Answer
Well that was original and I can even see how it might have felt good, reality time though.

Your tub is actually a very well designed machine for all its simplicity and you have literally thrown sand in its works which you now have to get out, - completely out. That means draining the tub and flushing all the lines clear, with particular attention to the filter and pump. It sounds like you will be bucketing it out for the most part, however there should be a drain valve to assist. Use the garden hose and if you have it, a wet and dry vacuum Hopefully the pump seals are intact. Check it carefully.

If its a good sunny day it could be fun.

Once you think its clear of sand start filling with the hose. Put a bucket under one jet while blocking the others, ( remember Iceage and the acorn collector ), then switch on. Collect all that water, dump it, then do the next jet and so on till clear.

GL>
PS- When you get it going again try 1 capful of Badedas in the tub, it foams up and keeps the water hot for longer.
