Im considering getting a backyard hot tub and want to understand all the costs involved.
Most hot tubs require a 240-volt electrical gfci outlet so I will need this outlet installed outside.
How much would an electrician charge for this job?
I live in the North East.
Thanks
Answer
anywhere between 100-500 quid depending on how good the electrician is, dont go for the cheapest but dont go for the most expensive. to tell if you have a good tradesmen check for few signs, is his van neat and tidy, signwritten? does he have a uniform or proper work clothes not just scabby jeans and t shirt? does he have an apprentice or another guy with him? this would indicate he is getting a lot of regular work which shows he can be trusted and is a good tradesmen. alternatively there is a search for check a trade in google however not every tradesmen is registered, im not but still get work and my work is still quality.
More importantly dont do it your self if you dont know what your doing i.e. what size and type of cable required, swa cable will be the choice most sparks will use (and should use) which is slightly more expensive the size depends on the current it will have to carry i.e how much current the hot tub is, how many amps it uses. but Part P regualtions and the law states no work is to be undertaken by anyone not part p registered hope this helped

Where can I find building plans for an outdoor sauna, and a woodfired hot tub?

I looked everywhere but couldn't find any, thanks for any help! :D
Answer
You can find some links to sauna building resources on Saunascape. For heaters, I've heard good things about Kumma stoves.
For the wood fired hot tub, that's harder. Snorkel will sell you just the stove. However, if you're looking to build a wooden tub, you need skills as a cooper.
Good luck.
