spas / hot tubs?

deecat1956

Can the water temperature in a hot tub/spa be turned down and kept at a lower temperature to cool off in hot summer weather? What's the lowest setting the temperature can be adjusted to?

Answer
chemicals will work in the tub wether or not it is hot, but you should have a thermostat on your heater or a control panel that you can adjust your temp. but if you would lower it to be cold that just defeats the whole purpose of a hot tub. they hot for a reason, they relax your muscles and soothes you.

Removing my Hot Tub?

I recently purchased a new home with a built-in outdoor hot-tub, but the monthly expenses are so high so I want to get rid of it.

What i want to know is who can I get to pull the spa out from my deck, and when they do take it out what will happen to the pipes that were connected to it?

Answer
Ususally the hot tub has no external piping. (Most are filled with the outdoor garden hose)
If there is a pipe to fill it, there must be a shut off for it. disconnect the pipe anywhere after that shut off, and cap it.
The hard part is disconnecting the electricity to the tub.
If you have no clue of how to do this DO NOT ATTEMPT!
Newer hot tubs just plug into an outlet, but if yours is directly wired to the fuse box, get a pro out there. it'll take him about 5 minutes to safely disconnect everything.
As far as tub removal goes, put an ad in the paper and see if you can get a few bucks for it.
I'm looking to get one and it will cost me about 2 grand so if I see one for a steal, i'm definately going to check it out!
