What to put a hot tub on?

Brad T

We just recently purchased a hot tub and was wondering what type of surface would be best to put under the tub. It will be placed on the ground, but we were wondering what type of material should be placed underneath the hot tub that will keep it level and help hold the weight.

Answer
Most of the 170 + manufactures do not design their hot tub to be very structurally sound. It is very important to give it a good well made concrete pad, min. 4" thick. Your supporting on average over 4k pounds. It is also imperative that it is nice and level to insure proper filtration. Pavers can be used as also flat stone and other materials but great care needs to be taken for levelness. Only yesterday I presented a $1022.00 bill to someone for a hot tub on a deck that had to be rebuilt because the wood underneath they had used rotted letting the heaviest side of the tub to also dip therefore many different jets/pipes were leaking. Hopefully your new tub has an ABS bottom. Most of our installations are placed on stamped colored concrete.

if your 4 months pregnant, is is ok to use a hot tub that is @ 102 degrees?
