I want to go to Florida for spring break (3/17-3/24) with my 2 teens. Budget is tight so will probably drive down and find a grocery when we get there. One night stay each way + 5 nights in Florida. Looking into areas like Destin or Panama City Beach. I haven't visited the Gulf side and am looking for a nice condo or hotel less than $200/day, on the Gulf beach, and with a kitchenette, hot tub, pool and nearby grocery. I'd appreciate hearing from folks who travel this area and can recommend a place, especially if there's a website where we could view photos and reviews. Thanks!

Panama City Beach will be a little crazy for a family in March. Destin is a good option but can be a little pricey. If you are looking to save money in Destin check out http://cheapdestinhotels.com for the lowest rates. Another good option with the same beaches that will less money is Pensacola Beach. It's only 1 hour west of Destin. Visit http://cheappensacolahotels.com for affordable options there. Have fun!

For my 21st birthday & spring break 2012 I want to go on a cruise, my godmother, and mom will be going and?

possibly my brother too. I wanted to see if I could invite 2 friends along with me, but I'm not quite sure how the rates work. I've spotted out some cruise lines & prices, but I'm not sure whether it would be too much to ask my 2 friends to come. They would have to pay for their flight and the cruise. It would probably be best that we have two different rooms right? So, lets say 2 rooms and 3 people in each. Which room fits those the best? The suite, balcony, interior, or the suite? Also, for the suite it is 1,549. Is that per person or is that the total for all 3 persons? Please help me! I've never been on a cruise.

Answer
Here's the basics of what you need to know:

All cruise cabins are sold based on double occupancy and the prices listed will be per person and based on at least two people going on the cruise. (If you have a 3rd and/or 4th person in your cabin their fare is generally about 50% of the first two persons. The price you pay will depend mostly on the type cabin/accommodations that you choose. There are 4 basic types of cabins on ships;
- inside (no window),................................⦠least expensive
- outside (a window or porthole),
- balcony/veranda, and
- suites and penthouses.......................... most expensive.

The "FROM" prices you see will always be for an inside cabin. There are also some subcategories within each category with cabins on a higher deck, and/or a better location on ship (like mid-ship), and/or that are slightly larger costing more. The typical cabin will accommodate 2 to 4 people and if you have more than that in your group you'll need to consider a second cabin or see if the ship has cabins that will accommodate more than 4 people, like a family cabin.

You can reserve a cruise by (1) booking on line; (2) by calling the cruise line, or (3) through a travel agent. You will pay at booking the minimum deposit which will be between $250 and $350 per person for a 7 day cruise, depending upon the cruise line. The balance will be due approximately 65 days before the cruise departure date. If you book within about 60 days of the cruise you will have to pay the full amount.

For the most part all cruises are all inclusive. Regardless of which cruise line or ship you select the things that are included are pretty much the same. The price of your cruise includes your cabin, all meals (including breakfast, lunch dinner, snacks and free room service), free admissions to all shows and entertainment, and free use of all facilities on ship like the pools, hots tubs, gym, disco, etc,., except spa services. The things that you will have to pay for are gratuities (tips) alcoholic drinks and soft drinks, photos that you want, any land tours from the ship you want to take, spa services like massages, and internet service. Gratuities will be about $11.50 per day per person and cover the cabin steward, waiter and assistant and the Matre'd. Other tips are added to drink orders at a rate of 15%.
