what house hold item can be used to clean a hot tub?

hunter3197

please i need a answer

Answer
The cheapest by far household item you can use is Distilled Vinegar, around $1.79 a gallon. When you are getting ready to change your water pour it into it and run for 20 minutes before draining the tub. Make sure you drain is promptly. You can use a concentration of it on a soft towel to attack any buildup on the sides. I never carried spa cleaner in my tub nor alkalinty increaser (Sodium bicarbonate(baking soda)) in my store.

What is concidered cheap for a hot tub?

Lea

7 or 8 person hot tub.
What is concidered cheap?
what is concidered expensive?
thanks!

Answer
Depends on your tastes...they could run as high as $11K from what I've seen and new ones are regulated at 100deg. Too cold for some people. Look around for a used thats in good condition or a recon'd one...you will be happier price and quality wise.

Check Ebay for one close to your location that you could haul yourself. Sounds stupid but you could land a decent deal even if minor repaires are needed

Is there anyway to cool off concrete?

Bryson's M

We have a giant concrete slab in out backyard that get extraordianarilly hot in the summer months. We have stuff on it (hot tub and pool) so I can't just lay a giant outdoor rug on it. Does anyone have any ideas on how to cool it off and keep my little boys feet safe? Is there a spray out there that we can put on it? Thanks!

Answer
Why don't you get some of those foam puzzle type pads. They use them for gym equipment and playground equipment. You can arrange them so that they fit the area. Also, you can try carpet tiles. They can be arranged to fit any area. Target sells them both. If you want something more permanent, you could try using an epoxy coating like what they sell for garage floors. You can do it yourself or pay someone to coat it for you. They sell the kit at home depot and they also have professionals that will do it for you.

Red tail boa qustion?

invisibles

I just got a red tail boa. He is about 3 feet long. I have in in a 55 gallon glass tank for now. I have been having some problems with keeping humidity in the tank, I have tried using a damp towell over the largest part of the screen top and that did not work. I recently (like not even a hr ago) put foil over the screen and taped it down, it seems to be helping the humidity is 64 and temp (on the cool side) is 78.8. The cool side has a heat rock. Asren (my snake) is curled up by it under his bedding Should I moved him? And will this method with the foil hurt him or is there a better method? Thanks
(I have been misting several times a day also)

Answer
First off remove the heat rock now,the only good heat rock is an unplugged one, heat rocks cannot be hooked up to thermostats,so they can reach there maximum temps and you will have no control over how hot it gets(trust me they get hot),that heat rock can and will burn your snake,so just take it out now, The tape and foil method works amazing if done right,i use it for all my lizard who need high humidity,i keep my snakes in tubs so humidity is not an issue with my snakes.

Here is how you should have it done,
http://ball-pythons.net/forums/showthread.php?90187-Tank-Screen-Top-Foil-Treatment-Tutorial

The only better method his housing him in a strelite tub 41quart or better and just upgrade as he grows, the largest tub you will have to go wit him is the VE 175 Dimensions: 20 7/8"W x 52 7/8"L x 14 1/16"H,you can find and purchase it here
http://www.reptiletubs.com/

Make sure what you are using to measure your temps and read humidity is accurate, those circular Gauge ones are about 90% of the time inaccurate by 10f and 20%,so make sure your using something with a probe like an acu Rite digital thermometer to measure your temps or a infrared temp gun, those are the only two accurate ways.

I recommend the Acu rite overall,it measures Temps on both sides and humidity all in one and is fairly cheap,it can be found at a local home depot or walmart for about $12

Good luck with your boa.

Spa, Hot Tub not insulated well?

Alan D

I have a "lower end" spa that sits out on my outside deck. It seems to have very little insulation because during our "harsh" Fall and Winter season down here in Louisiana (lol) the spa just can't seem to hold the temperature long. It always kicks on and cycles to bring the temp back up to wherever I have it set. I use to have a Colman spa and I do not remember the temperature fluctuating like this! I know you get what you pay for, I have a DreamMaker portable 6 person spa. When I empty the water out and tip it up I do not notice a whole lot of insulating materials. I am tempted to go to Home Depot and by that expanding foam and spray that stuff all underneath up along the underside of the tub to give it some insulating properties. I can get way up in there so I could cover a lot of area doing this, I really don't care what the underside looks like as long as my water temp holds better. Also, I do have a standard cover but was thinking about getting a floating blanket also.HELP?

Answer
Dream maker is a very poorly insulated spa. You can use a soray foam and we do but make sure your prepared for the diggin out of the foam when the day comes that their glue fails and the plumbing starts to leak in places. I think it is well worth doing and we do it often to a lot of hot tubs. It also makes it harder for snakes to live under your spa. Do leave room around yout pump and spa pack for it to be worked on in the future. Also make sure you hard wire that tub. I have seen a lot of melted GFI cords from that company with the plug in cords. As far as the blanket, that will pretty much be a waste of money.

hot tub troubleshooting?

J T

Last night I was in my hot tub and it just shut off on me and there was no power to the tub. I switched the breaker off and back on and nothing. i just bought a house that had a hot tub and i know they recently replaced the heater...there has been no problems for 2 months. Any help on why it would just shut off? did it get too hot and have a auto shut off mode?
Mountain Springs Yukon 500 GAL TUB. ANY HELP? THanks.
JT

Answer
It blew the Sc-25 or Sc-30 fuse located inside the spa pack. Open it up located the orange or green fuse and take it to Lowe's and get a new one. Be sure to turn the main breaker off so no electricity is flowing to the tub to zap you. Some tubs blow these little guys as often as every six months for the only reason is too much amps coming into your tub from your friendly power company. By the way all of the other 3 have good answers also to read. If this fuse still does not do it, you need to disconnect each item from the spa pack that is connected to it it flipping the power off each time before you unplug each line. Keep doing this until you find the item that doesn't blow the GFI when power is applied to it. Even though the heater is brand new I am betting on it if it is not the fuse....would I bet it is a fuse? Sure let's start at a hundred.... If you have unplugged everything and it is still tripping the GFI then it most like is the new heater. It will be under warranty. It better be! If you have any questions just call us and leave a message if we don't get to the phone fast enough.

Does anyone know of a cabin with an outdoor hot tub available to rent within 4 hours of Chicago?

Michael D

I'm trying to find a cabin to rent within a reasonable drive from a Chicago suburb. Amenities should include fireplace, outdoor hot tub, fire pit, privacy and view. Since we travel with Simon, our 5lb. Yorkie mix, the owner should be comfortable allowing a well behaved non-shedding dog in the cabin. A fall color getaway would be ideal. Any recommendations?

Answer
I would try the Dells or Lake Delton area. The rates are very low right now as the actual 'Lake' Delton was destroyed in flood. -Sounds weird but it was man made and the levy broke or something...
Anyhoo, the Dells is a very nice area with resorts and/or lakeside cabins. Some if not most are rather luxurious and would have outdoor hot tops. Try Wilderness or Kalahari or even a private family owned who has vacation properties.

What is the best cruise for my family?

Sam

Hi, my family of six is looking at taking a cruise this summer for the first time and don't really know what criuse is best for us. Me and my wife are 46, my daughter is 18, my sons are 14, 13, and 9. We want to find a ship with activities that will interest all of our children. Any suggestions?

Answer
Definitely a Royal Caribbean cruise in the Voyager Class. The ships all have about the same things so look for the cheapest deal you can get because with 6 people, a cruise could get pricey. Maybe not the room itself would be expensive but the shore excursions and food would.

Since you and your wife are 46 years old each, the Voyager class has amazing pools and hotubs for you to relax in. If you aren't the water type like my mom, you can relax on the deck chairs and read a good book, tan or simply take a nap. You can also go to the casino or grab a drink.

The Voyager class has many things that can interest your children. Since your daughter is 18, she is classified as an adult and can no longer participate in the teen activities. However, being 18 the spa is a very appealing idea and she can get a manicure/pedicure for a reasonable price. Your daughter might also like the promenade, two whole decks devoted to shopping. This is only on Voyager class ships and they have many stores for her to shop and window shop in. They also have daily sales and in the middle of the cruise they will have their $10 dollar sale when most items only cost $10! There is also a Ben and Jerrys store for her to indulge in. The Daily Newletter you will get everday highlights ship activites all people of all ages can attend. Some are really fun like a scavanger hunt or a disco dance. Since she is 18, she is legally allowed to go to the dance clubs and meet others her age.

For your other kids, the boys, they will most certainly have a blast! The teen and children program is most appealing. For your youngest son, he can particpate in a circus, talent show and kids only dance. They also get scheduled activites throughout the whole day to keep him occupied. He can meet kids his age and they can do things together like the pool. There is also a large slide in Adventure Beach (onboard) for him to go in. And if your kid likes Johnny Rockets, they have that too. For dining, on special days, your son could eat with the other kids and staff at the cafe.

For the other boys, they can go to Feul, the all teen lounge. Feul is amazing because they have the chance to either do an activity or just relax. The area has their own non-alcoholic bar, DJ station and T.Vs fully equipped with a Wii, Playstation and videogames boys their age love! Believe me, my brother wouldn't leave Feul. The lounge also has competions like rock-climbing and ping-pong. I went to Feul and I really liked it. We could go in the talent show and at night, the hot tubs are reserved for teens only. At the end of the cruise, there is a teen-only party.

There are many family bonding things on the cruise too for all ages to have fun. You can go skating, either at the ice rink or the inline skating. There is also a full sports board with mini-gulf, track and a baskeball rink. You can all go rock-climbing or have fun playing ping-pong. Some families like playing video games together in the arcade. The shows play every night at the theatre and you can all go together as a family. The shows vary from comdey to dance so check your newsletter to see what is on. There is also bingo and shuffleboard for the whole family to do to win prizes. The restaurants all have great food but if you are more casual, you can always go to the buffet called Windjammer. Of course there is more but I think you get my point.

Check this site for more info http://www.royalcaribbean.com/findacruise/ships/class/ship/home.do;jsessionid=0000DC5qTOQt34HTK22sDrFJ-TQ:13hldcgo7?br=R&shipClassCode=VY&shipCode=EX

Have fun on your cruise, I suggest the Adventure of the Seas because that is the one I went on but they all have the same things. Remember, voyager class!

Where did Dixie Carter and Hulk Hogan have their meeting earlier today? Was it in a park?

Seor Boo

Or was it in Universal Studios?I'm curious to know because it made the meeting much better.

BQ:If it was in Universal Studios Orlando,do you think Hulk Hogan went to a ride in Universal Studios Orlando?Which one?

Answer
In a hot tub in Tampa. He kept grabbing the back of her head, trying to get some oral.

BQ: Nope, due to him being so old, i'm pretty sure he has a pacemaker, and can't go on most of the rides.

What is a good hotel in Tampa, Florida? Hopefully not to expensive and by the beach?

PropertyOf

Hi, could you name some hotels in Tampa that are by the beach, and not too expensive? A hot tub, pool, and sauna is a plus. Thanks! :)

Answer
If you are talking by the beach then I would suggest the Sand Pebble Resort in Treasure Island. It is a time share so you are talking multiple bedrooms with a kitchen and a living room with a sleeper sofa, a hot tub, on the gulf and with a swimming pool. You can share with others and save lots of money on your food

Hot Mop for shower necessary?

Fearless

We are having a tub taken out and a new tiled shower put in. Is it necessary to hot mop the base or is a subfloor and heavy liner sufficient? We are in Sacramento CA

Answer
Yes you absolutely want a hotmop application. That is what is going to protect the wood underneath from being damaged if there is a leak! The only time you would not need a hotmop is if you are using a single shower pan.

My husband can repair anything thats needed to be fixed I am just looking to find out what brand it it. If I have a repair man come I will have to pay him just to find out its brand? Thanks anyway

Answer
More pictures please!

Looks like a 12+ year old jacuzzi mold. I would love ot see a top down view. Next I want a pic. of your spa pack. I realize it's an older pack so yes, replace your thermostadt and it might just start heating. Of course it also might be that your Heater has also died (next you look at the contactor). You need to do a resistence and continuity check on it. Knowing the actual brand really doesn't matter that much on the older tubs.

Looking for ideas for a mini vacation not more than 4-5 hours from Tulsa, any ideas?

Jennifer S

We would like to take a 2 day vacation in December. Nothing fancy, just to get out of Tulsa. Any ideas for any places not more than 4-5 hours away? We'll also be taking our 3 year old with us.

Answer
Whenever I want to get away from Tulsa I go to Eureka Springs, AR. It is about a 3 hour drive. Its gorgeous and fun. Great places to shop, great day spas if you are into that, and best of all you can rent a condo for the weekend for only $99 a night and they come equipped with washers/dryers full kitchen and furnished bedrooms, etc. I stayed in one two months ago that had a 6 person hot tub out on the deck with a view of Tablerock Lake. It was wonderful and very relaxing :) Hope you find a similar experience!

hot tub settings on Canadian Hot Tub?

Skippy

Hot tub wooden settings for winter.?
We have a Canadian Hot Tub. We found last year that the cost of running it constantly was through the roof. Since it has a manual timer, but not a digital thermostat, I was wondering if anyone out there has instead of using "freeze protect", just used the timer to come on every 10 minutes or so?

Last night I tried that, and did not change the temp setting (again it's not digital, so it's touchy). It dropped 10 degrees, down to 95.

Would it be cheaper to run the hot tub every ten minutes than all the time, but have the heater come on higher, or would it be cheaper to just leave it on "freeze protect".

I live in Midwestern Ontario, right now temps are -3 to 3 during the day in December. I've heard some sites recommend 15 minutes of run time every hour.

I wrapped the hot tub in bubble wrap insulation, using a solar blanket and a good cover ( not the one that came with the tub, an actual insulated one). All the plumbing is on the outside of the tub, it's not internal.

I think the bubble wrap has an R value of R13 or so. Any ideas? Tips? Tricks? Thanks.

I also insulated the lines with pipe insulation, and around the pump housing as well.
I also added a layer of bubble wrap over top of the cover and a tarp.

Freeze Protect means that the pump is constantly going (not high) but also heating, if I switch it to the timer it is the same thing only I can adjust it so it doesn't run all the time.

Just don't know if it is more economical to have the steady heat and pump running or to allow the timer to go on a few times an hour but at a higher heat to keep the heat as steady as on the freeze protect mode.

Answer
I set my Hot tub up outside here in BC on top of 2 inches of the rigid DOW Blue Extruded Polystyrene to prevent the cold coming up from the bottom/ground.

It has a manual timer and I set it to Off for 15 min each hour and low flow/circulate, the jets just cause it to cool off.
I only turn the jets on when I want them but the thermostat is set to 104F where I like it.
See if you can find RadiantGUARD® radiant barrier and bubble insulation.

I've seen it at Rona and Home Depot.

If you spend a couple of hundred insulating you will more than save that much in the first year.

if your tub is out side you can also fill garbage bags with straw or styrofoam peanuts and pile them around it.

You may also find used foil backed fiberglass insulation
(FOIL-FIBERGLASS-VINYL) at a used building supply store.

We got our hot tub all cleaned up and ready when we moved in, everything was working fine, then i turned the temp up all the way, and it shut off. now theres no response. I am sure it's just a blown fuse, but i can't find the fuse box. we have checked all the breakers, and they're fine. any advice?

Answer
Simple. Turn breaker to hot tub off! Next remove cabinet under main topside control. Open spa box. Look for green SC-30 or possibly SC-25 fuse. Take out and go to Home depot or lowe's and get a new one or ones (if there's two). Replace fuse and then flip breaker back on and see if it powers up. I bet it does. Now, unlike the other response...I just saved you 156.50 if I had to have come out and done just that. (But of course I have dozens of fuses since this is the most common repair). Put spa pack screws pack in and then cabinet back on.

Sauna / Spa in Seoul ?

rohit desa

Can someone provide me some good Sauna / Spa address in Seoul ?
I have got reference to one spa in Yongsan but I don't know how it is.
Please tell me some place where body massage is provided by women and not men. (It feels like gay to me so).
Thanks for the help.

Answer
Finding a "Normal" message in Korea outside of the ì°ì§ë°©'s (Korean style Spa with the Hot Tubs etc ..) can be quite tricky. -- But there are some places which give straight messages-- but it's also pricey. About 10ë§ì(100$) for an hour. -- This one I've heard good reviews about from a friend who was up in ìì¸(Seoul) recently. http://healingstonespa.com/insiter.php?design_file=5068.php -- I was asking about where to get a good message in ë¶ì°(Busan) but she said that in Seoul there are better ones because they are more used to giving messages outside of ì°ì§ë°©. These kind of places are just messages/facials/waxing etc -- Like in the West.

Inside ì°ì§ë°©'s(Korean style Sauna/Spa) the sexes are separate male and female because of no clothing being worn inside the washing areas. There are separate message areas in the common area. One for males and one for females. In Korean society this is how it is -- Men deal with men in these kinds of situations and Females with females. It just makes most people more comfortable.

As you know in Korea there isn't this stigma with men touching men and gayness. It's just not associated like that. Men who ask for women who give messages are usually looking for the messages which come with Happy Endings :P

Termites in Hot tub plumbing pipes?

jp

Help. I have a large termite infestation in my outdoor hot tub, Jacuzzi, spa.... They eat the filter out in about 1 week and appear to be coming out the air hoses and not the water hoses. Any advice on how to get the m OOUT!

Cheers
JP

Answer
This is not trivial. Disconnect the power to the unit. There may be a short forming. Call an inspector and have the whole property inspected for termites as they are likely to be eating in other places as well. Get the termites controlled and then have the tub serviced. Termites will eat through insulation and once they are gone, their dried out workings are often flammable.

Air hoses are usually a softer plastic than the water pipes, that's why they get penetrated first. Chances are there is a minor water leak that attracting them.

Whats the difference between a hot tub and a jacuzzi?

Q.

Answer
As some others have already stated "Jacuzzi" is a brand name of a manufacturer of jetted tubs. The name has become somewhat of a standard for jet tubs in general. So, typically, when someone is speaking of a jacuzzi tub, they are referring to a 'bathtub' size jetted tub, or slightly larger, whereas "hot tub" typically is used for something a bit larger. For example, a permanent jetted tub, large enough to hold 2, might be commonly referred to as a 'jacuzzi', but a larger 6 person unit, might be more commonly referred to as a 'hot tub', or 'spa'.

You can purchase portable hot tubs (aka 'spas'), small enough to carry through a standard 30 inch door (I'm referred to solid wood cabinets here - you can also get 'soft sided' hot tubs) up to units that are about 12 ft x 15 ft, or larger. (I was a production manager for one such manufacturer). Of course, you can also get these installed as permanent units - the reason many people go with portable units, instead of permanent 'built-ins' is that most communities do not require a building permit to install a 'portable' unit (even if it takes a forklift or crane to move the silly thing, lol). Portable units have less impact on your tax assessment too, hehehe.

So, quick and simple - 'jacuzzi', while a brand name (like most facial tissue is called 'Kleenex') usually refers to a tub sized unit, INSIDE a bathroom, and a 'hot tub' usually refers to a somewhat larger unit, often found OUTSIDE the home. Again... "Jacuzzi" is a brand name, and they do make several different size/style 'jet tubs'

Your standard jet tub, or hot tub, consists of the 'tub', no matter how large, this is usually a single molded piece (unless you opt to have a 'tiled' permanent 'built in' unit installed, which could be custom made), the pump, which controls the flow of the water and air through the jets, and a heat source (usually an electric heating element). All of this is managed by a control board. Switches, and buttons may be electric, or pneumatic (air powered) in operation.

info on bearded dragons?

mogro

OK sooo, for a while I've been on to snakes, but I couldn't get a mouse-eating one because of my parents. My second choice was to get a lizard, so I'm thinking about a bearded dragon. I need all the info i can get.
what do they eat?
What sort of supplies and accessories do they need?
how much does a baby usually cost?
what size tank will they need, how much does that cost?
pros and cons?
Thx!!!

Answer
First of all, you need this website: http://www.beardeddragon.org

You will learn everything you need there.

Secondly, DO NOT LISTEN TO ADVICE FROM THE PET STORE!! They don't know squat about caring for exotics, so make sure you know everything you need before you go, and don't let them talk you out of something you know to be true. That's why you need the above website!

Here is a basic list:

20g tank minimum. You'll need at least a 40g breeder when he's grown, so you may want to go ahead and get the bigger one. You can block off part of it if he seems intimidated by the size.
Craigslist is a great place to find cheap tanks.

Solid substrate for the bottom - Repticarpet, paper towels, non-adhesive shelf liner, or my favorite, tiles. Tiles are great. You only have to buy them once. They are super easy to clean and disinfect. They come in a lot of colors and styles so you can customize your look. They also help keep beardie's nails filed down. Sand, especially calcium sand, or any other particle substrate poses an impaction risk and should not be used for a dragon under one year old. And then washed childrens playsand is the only safe option.
You can go real cheap here, pennies for paper towels or less than $10 for tiles.

Thermometer - A temp gun or digital indoor/outdoor therm with a probe on a wire. The stick on type are useless, and it's important that you accurately monitor your temps. The probe goes directly on the basking spot, and this temp should be 100-110. The cool side should stay around 80.
Wal Mart sells the Acurite Digital Weather Station for $12. It is an indoor/outdoor therm with the probe and works perfect for this application.

Heat bulb and fixture - Lowes and Wal Mart both have metal dome work light fixtures. These work great. The bulb can be just a regular household bulb. You might need to try different wattages to see which one gives you the temps you need. Usually a 75W or 100W will do.
Bulb <$1, Fixure: $10

UVB bulb and fixture - AVOID THE COMPACT COIL. Linear fluorescents provide the best UVB (besides MVB bulbs, but you can learn about that on bd.org) and REPTISUN 10.0 (not ReptiGLO) is the best fluor bulb on the US market. You can get the fixture at Lowes or Wal Mart for a reasonable price. Make sure the fixture does not have a glass or plastic shield over the light. Glass and plastic both completely filter UVB. The bulbs are way cheaper if you order them online from somewhere like Pet Mountain.
Bulb: $30-$60 depending on which type you get. The fluor needs to be replaced ever 6 months and the MVB just once a year so the yearly costs are about the same.
Fixture: 24" fluor fixture at Wal Mart for $8, or the work light fixture for MVB for $10.

Then you'll want some cage furniture, a basking rock or log, a hide if you like (although a hide isn't really necessary), some fake greenery to make it pretty. You might want to consider something to enclose 3 sides of your tank. Some beardies freak out about all the visibility, but some don't seem to notice. I used fake bamboo blinds to do this and it looked great.

A baby needs to eat 2-3 times a day, as many crickets as he can eat in 10-15 minutes. This can equal 50 or even up to 100 crickets a day. A juvie/sub-adult can eat once a day, as many as he can eat, and an adult needs about 50 crickets a week, so you can feed him every other or every 3 days.

You'll need a plan for your live feeders. Again, way cheaper to buy in bulk online than a few at a time at the pet store (and healthier too, no doubt). A 20 qt or bigger plastic tub does nicely. Cut a hole in the lid and hot glue or duct tape some screen on top for ventilation. You can learn all you need about caring for your crix at bd.org, and you can also learn about other feeders.

A dragon of any age needs a salad of a dark, leafy green (like collards) and some other healthy veggie (like squash) available every day.

Here's a good website to tell you which veggies are good for your dragon:
http://www.beautifuldragons.503xtreme.coâ¦

Okay, just as important, I will give you a list of things NOT to get, no matter what the pet store tells you!

*calcium sand
*crushed walnut shells
*any substrate that has particles
*stick on thermometers
*crickets bigger than the space between his eyes
*mealworms
*compact coil UVB bulbs
*heat pad
*blue or red night light

Can you recommend an outdoor hot tub/spa for under 2k that is decent?

Aster

I noticed sam's club has a couple, one for around $1600, member's mark brand. Anyone have positive/negative experiences with any brand/model for 2K or under? I want one just to relax, I don't need 200 jets and a pop up TV...just something small and simple and cheap.

Answer
Hey there,

Great idea on getting a hot tub. I use ours almost everyday.

For under 2K you will probably be limited to a portable hot tub which many people like. These tubs are easy to put up and use right away. If you get a permanent hot tub then you will have to pay for the installation of electrical hook up which can run anywhere from $1000 - $2000. There is a good article for you to look at below and a good website that you will find useful to help you decide.

Just remember one thing. If you go too cheap, then you often get a pretty cheap tub in many ways including quality. I wanted to get one in the price range you were looking but in the end we bought a used tub which had been returned to the manufacturer and repaired. We got it for about half the retail price just because it was used for a few months. They fixed it and resold it to us and we are extremely happy with it. We spent around $4000 plus installation. Well worth the extra cost.

Hope this helps.

Cheers.

How much should I charge for my hot tub made in 1996?

KB

It works and is in good condition. It came with our house so I have no idea how much it costs

Answer
The answer can be any where from $1800 too free depending on size, features, and condition. Generally a mid sized tub will be under $1000, if in good shape, with cover in good shape. Here is what I would do, look at a similar sized tub (4person ECT) and then take that cost and divide it by 4. The reason I say 4 is if the tub was only a few years old half is a good starting place, being the tub isover 10 years old divide it in half again. Then from that point take offers. Good luck.

does moderate resorts at disneyworld have hot tubs anyone who knows that would be great?

andykpln

Answer
It's true that most moderate resorts have hot tubs adjacent to the pool area. If you want a more private, relaxing experience, check out the suites at Saratoga Springs or the Boardwalk, which are deluxe resorts. Those rooms have large, jacuzzi bath tubs which are great to lounge around in. Saratoga Springs also offers spa services. You can chill out in the hot tub and suana, and use the fitness center too.

I have a jacuzzi hot tub J-385, where can I buy the "net" that is attached to the piece that covers the filter

I assume this piece is used to catch leaves, ect. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you

Outdoor pool filter help needed?

signmanj

we have a 15' pool from Target and we love it and am wondering what is the way you can clean the tube white filters? We heard soaking them in something works so you dont have to keep buying them. Any help would be appreciated.

Answer
I have a 10 year old Jacuzzi hot tub. We bought an extra pair of white paper-like filters at the same time. They weren't cheap back then. Well we've never bought any more. Go down to Lowe's and pick up a spray bottle of 'Aquaez' 'cartridge & D.E. filter cleaner'. That's what it says on the label. Pull your filter out, hose away the loose debris, let most of the water drain away then spray it with Aquaez, let it sit for a while, maybe 10 to 15 minutes, to soften up the remaining unwanted sediment, then hose it away. I then put my two filters in a 5 gallon bucket of plain water with a half cup of bleach to make sure they are sanitized. Since I have a spare set these go up on a shelf in the garage to dry out real good before being switched back in.

Hot tubs. Spas, Jacuzzi, which one to get how much electric bill per month Maintenance for them?

Rich M

Looking to maybe get a hot tub. Just started looking and hot springs guys says his r the best. Jacuzi guy says that they started the outdoor hot tubs. Sundance is the Lexus of hot tubs. I just wanted to get feedback from people who own outdoor spas and what brand do you have. What was the cost to run it during winter and summer. How often do you use it. What is the weekly/monthly maintance for it etc.. Any info would help.

Thank you,

Answer
All three of those brands are luxury hot tubs. Do note that Jacuzzi rolls off the same line that Sundance does. All three are great tubs. They all are expensive to fix but the warranty will cover you for five years on the important things. The cost of running the Hotsprings will be the cheapest by about 8 bucks a month. No with that said..the cost of repairing the Hotsrings will almost always be more expensive since their parts are very difficult to otain and please don't think your dealer will be there tomorrow just because they may have for 20 years. I repair all three. I like all three. I am hard to pick one over the over but I love Sundance's quality and jets, not too mention their arrangements. Also I am no fan of the Moto Massage seat. They are broke at every tub I go to and being 80% fused (back) I am really into the therapy aspect of a tub. Of these three, you can't beat a Sundance. Now with all of that said...I gave away mine and brought home a Masterspa LSX. What we don't know is where you live so electricity is going to be hard to tell you. Sundance-Jacuzzi in NC, around $30 a month. Hotsprings about $22. I use mine every day and realy keep up on my chemicals. Now for sanitizing, I have a CD Ozonator, use very little Bromine, a Frog mineral cartrige and a non-chlorine shock for oxidizing. My tub has no smell and costs about $10 a month in chemicals. Almost every tub has a few different modes you can run it in to save money, except the Hotsprings. I do wish my Masterspa had those Sundance jets, and I wish that Sundance had that Masterspa frame. We always accept phone calls if you have a specific question.

What do you think of Oregon?

nicolehale

Answer
Oregon is a state that has something for everyone!

Portland is a liberal-minded, friendly city with great restaurants, shopping, cafe's and a mixture of some real interesting people. In the summer the city really comes alive with outdoor concerts on the waterfront, the Blues festival is a favorite of mine. The Beavers playing at PGE Park are fun and affordable family entertainment, and when the Rose Fesitval starts its great watching the fleet sail in, the airshow in August and the parade.

Oregon is a wonderful outdoors state, so people are active and why not. Mt. Hood and Mt. Bachelor are great places to go skiing, and so many rivers and tributaries lend themselves to wonderful kayaking. Fishing and hunting are here, as well as just simply hiking the Columbia River Gorge, or driving the 101 from Astoria through Seaside, Cannon Beach, down to Tillamook, Newport and Coos Bay.

Within Portland again are some of the world's best microbrews, including Widmer. Made even better by some great bars that are truly unique like the McMenamin's places; Edgefield, Mission, Kennedy, and Baghdad Theater. Their is something for everyone here.

In winter, the rain, the high gray skies can get to a lot of people but it really makes the city charming and a bit romantic. It doesn't get that cold, so their isn't the problem of commuting to work through a snowstorm and it makes a good place to live if you enjoy just curling up by a fire, relaxing in a hot tub, or sitting in a coffeeshop.

The rest of the state is just amazing. Oregon is actually home to some of the most impressive bridges and lighthouses in the country! It's mountain ranges, and desert landscapes make it a tremendous place to take some photos.

The only negative to Oregon is the tax structure and political climate with Portland being so liberal and the rest of the state for the most part leaning very conservative. But the people are so friendly and polite you wouldn't know unless you asked. It would be better though if the state would invest more in its schools, and having more strip clubs per capita than Las Vegas isn't a big selling point, nor is the job market particularly strong. The housing market is continuing to soar in Portland despite the bust in other areas and real earnings is lagging behind. If you are considering a move that needs to be accounted for.

All and all, Portland is a wonderful city, and great for families. The state has amazing natural beauty, friendly people and historic landmarks like the Lewis and Clark trail, and Crater Lake. Bend, Oregon is a magnificent vacation destination and it is a great great place.

Cheers,

Does anyone know of a romantic place to go in Maryland or Virginia?

Juniper

My husband and I (44 years old) are looking for a place to spend our anniversary. We can only make it a long weekend due to childcare. We live in Northern Virginia so we'd like to stay within 2 1/2 hours. We don't know the area as we are new here. Does anyone know of any nice areas maybe on the water, antiques, real nice private rooms, cottage, hot tubs on a deck...HaHa! I'm asking for alot!
We have been to Charlottesville,VA and Annapolis, MD.
I would love some help!!
Thank you so much!

Answer
Here's your ticket Juniper. The place I'm going to recommend is no longer in Virginia but once was. It's Berkeley Springs, West Virginia. Maybe a 2 hour drive from Fairfax. Specifically, The Country Inn (see thecountryinnatberkeleysprings.com). It's in the heart of Berkley Springs (correct name Bath, WV) right next to the 'springs' and state run spa. The food in their dining room is outstanding. There are all kinds of spa packages available and all kinds of antique shops within walking distance; in fact everything in Berkeley Springs is within walking distance. It's a great place for a weekend getaway. Take either 7 or 50 west to Winchester and 522 north to Berkeley Springs. I would take 7 because 50 is slower. Berkeley Springs is an unforgettable Place. You owe it to yourselves to give it a try.

Question about eloping?

Punkin

My fiance & I want to plan a weekend getaway to get married, just the two of us. I am looking for somewhere nice to go. We live right outside of Philly. Does anyone have any good suggestions? I'm trying to avoid the mountains & the cheesy hotels with a heart shaped hot tub in every room!!! Thanks ;)

Answer
I suggest Virginia.

They don't have a waiting period for the marriage license so if you make it a 3-day weekend, you could get your license on Friday and get married at any other point of the weekend and not have to worry.

Another perk - its close, you can drive to Northern parts in 2hrs.

And I can recommend a JOP if you like: www.valleyweddingchapel.com
Mr. Patterson was great! Winchester, VA area is beautiful, there is alot of history and I'm sure if you check www.bandbfinder.com that you could find a really romantic place to stay for the weekend.

If you want a different feel, you could go towards Virginia Beach. Also, check out the different B&B's in VA - - a number offered elopement packages.

What is included at a Las Vegas spa if you just pay the facility fee?

Christa M

Is it just a hot tub and sauna? Is it worth the $25-$30 to do this and not get any services?

Answer
Generally this is what you get with your facility fee:

use of a locker, robe, sandals, and unlimited towels
access to a lounge area with magazines and a television
complimentary bottled water, juices, fresh fruit
use of all exercise equipment in the fitness center
hot tub, cold plunge pool, steam room, dry sauna
private showers
vanity area with beauty/grooming products (razors, shaving cream, deodorant, combs, brushes, mouthwash, hair dryers, hair spray)

Specific spas may also have other exotic things like deluge showers, outdoor gardens, fireplaces, etc. Sometimes the amenities will vary slightly between the men's area and women's area.

Most of the higher-end hotels put a lot of money into the design of their spa areas to create a sense of luxury and relaxation. They incorporate natural wood, stone, leather, carefully placed lighting, and pipe in relaxing music and scents.

Whether or not it's worth it depends on if you are going to really take advantage of everything that is offered. I find it to be a good value if I need a place to take a few hours to relax and unwind without interruption.

For my project, i need some new ideas to design a bathroom product like tap, vanity basin, showers, toilets, etc

richa

Im doing a project on bathroom products design. For that, i need to know the EXPERIENCES, NEEDS and DESIRES of the users of bathroom products. Can anyone tell me their experiences while using a bathroom tap and vanity basin and what all features(existing or new) would u like to have in ur bathroom tap and vanity basin. In addition, some new ideas of improving these bathroom products would also be appreciated. Im also looking for something that even conserves water since a lot of water gets consumed in bathroom. For eg. - There was a design last year in which a person made a shower head which increases the diameter of a water droplet. In that way, less amount of water gets consumed and at the same time, the user gets more water.
Thanks!

Answer
French levers are nice for sinks and tubs. I love stone and the outdoor look so I have ceramic tiles in my sunken tub that look like rocks. Bamboo frames my 2 wall mirrors over my oak vanity.
I would love to have multiple shower heads while in the bathtub.

i much prefer a sunken , flush sink that a raised bowl.Of course a bidet would be nice on the toilet;)

Lazy Susan type shelving beneath the vanity would be great so you can reach all your stored items.

They don't make many nice bathroom fixtures that use fluorescent bulbs, so that would be nice to see.Fluorescent bulbs are much cooler and last sooo much longer.

A skylight would be nice too so that plants could be added to the bathroom.
But the best part of my bathroom is that I purchased a hot water heater that gives me unlimited hot water! It also cuts you gas bill down to almost zero.

ps. plz design a holder in the wall for blow dryers! Maybe something like a short track lighting thing so it could be moved a little...

Hot tubs or jacuzzi's in San Francisco?

WillLynn 1

There used to be a place off of Market street near Van Ness that had hot tub rentals by the hour. Does anyone know the name of it and if it is still there? It may have been on Fell st but I could be wrong.
Sorry Gaucho Girl but I'm not talking about the one down near Marina Greens and that's the address you gave. The one I want is closer to Civic Center.
Not looking to hang in hot tubs or bath houses. Trying to locate someone who used to work there

Im 16, and I want to clear my skin up?

Kab

I am quite healthy(walk alot, slender/muscular, eat healthy, only have fast food 1-2 every two weeks if that...etc.) but I still have little bumps and blemishes on my upper arms, underside of jaw, and forehead(mostly forehead). They aren't big, but i want them GONE. I've tried tomatoes, eating even better, clean-and-clear, just hot water, lemon-cucumber juice( all of these i tried for about a week and a half to two weeks at directed times), but they just keep coming up.My skin is fine other than that, I haven't ever had a problem with it getting too burned/ dry( I live in a very sunny area, so nothing wrong there either, i think).I'm also a girl, if that helps at all.

There taunting me! every time i see one, they seem to say "hey, i know we shouldnt be here, but HERE WE ARE.On your face...".

Help please????

Ladies I need your suggestions for Date ideas :)?

DarrenB

I take my wife out on a date at least once a week and I am out of ideas unfortunately and I would love love love to have some good ideas. Both inexpensive and nice fancy ones. The nicest date I have taken her on so far was dinner at a restruarnt inside of the Adolphus hotel in Dallas and then told her we should go to the 15th floor to get a view of the city and then I opened up a room and we stayed the night in a suite. Cheapest thing i've done is Chik-Fila so any and all comments are welcome. We do live in the DFW area in case you want to be more specific.

Answer
Google tourist stuff where you live, you would be surprised the stuff right under your nose you don't know about or forgot about

Camping - Tent or Cabin style

Camping - Luxurious hotel style complete with whirlpool tub, wine and rose petals ;)

The theater, opera, movie theater, dinner theater, etc;

Mini golf

Laser Tag

Amusement Park

Free sampling at Costco

Find water. Have a picnic by the water.

Find a pretty location. Take pictures of each other. (We did this spontaneously-was a blast!)

Zoo, aquarium, museum

Go out for dessert, rather than dinner. Somewhere with really decadent dessert with more calories than dinner would have.

Go to a 24-hour breakfast joint at an off-breakfast time.

Helicopter ride, pilot lessons, hot air balloon ride, paragliding, parachuting

Figure Skating, Roller skating

Volunteer together for a cause dear to you both.

1994 or 95 Bullfrog Spas hot tub dispaly temp on Celisus, I want fahrenheit!!?

bob

I have a Bullfrog Spas hot tub that I believe is a 1994 or 1995 model. The display has always read out the current temp and temp setting in fahrenheit, until the other nignt. I'm not sure exactly what happened, I guess i must have rested my arm on the keypad and hit a button to switch it, but now I cant figure out how to get it back. The keypad doesn't have that many buttons, they are: Jets 1, jets 2, Light, Mode, warmer, cooler.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thank you

Josh
There is no "Temp" button. As stated I have: Jets 1, Jets 2, Light, Mode, Warmer, and Cooler.

Note: Mode changes the hot tub from Economy, Sleep, and Standard.

Thanks again.

Answer
Hi Josh,

Your Bullfrog is likely not quite that old, since the company was founded in 96 but that's neither here nor there. If you can locate a "User Preferences" submenu you should be able to switch to Farenheit.

Here's how you can do this:

Press "Temp" then "Jets" then "Light" within 3 seconds of each previous press. If "USr" (in digital lettering) is not showing, press "Temp" until you see "USr" on the display. Then press "Jets" to enter the User Preferences submenu.

Press "Temp" to cycle through the settings on the submenu until you see "tc". When this is set to "tc.Y" your display will show the temperature in Celsius. When set to "tc.n" temperature will display in Fahrenheit.

Press "Jets" to edit this setting. It will begin flashing. Once it is flashing you can press "Temp" to change the setting. Then press "Jets" again to save your selected setting. If you don't interact with the panel for more than 30 seconds it may time out.

If you need to download an owner's manual you can do that here: http://www.bullfrogspas.com/manuals

Hope this helps!

What was this streak of light?

mint

A few days ago I was sitting in a hot tub when I look up to my neighbor's fences, and above it I saw this streak of light that was only about 6' ft in the air and the streak of light lasted about 2-3 seconds until it was gone. It wasn't a huge streak of light, it was medium-sized. If there were any way to describe it, I would say that it looked like a mini-shooting star, except not in the sky, but happening above my neighbor's fences. Can anyone describe what you think it was?

Answer
Obviously it's not possible to say for certain what it was, since I didn't see it, I don't know where you saw it from, etc., but I would say it could be one of these things:

} A reflection of light from a passing car reflected on your neighbor's windows.
} Someone with a flashlight.
} A swarm of fireflies -- I have seen groups that all glow at the same time.
} A reflection of light on your window from a passing car, a light shining from the house across reflected on your window, etc.
} It could even be the combustion of gases of sulphur from something that died underground. Some gases of sulphur combust at room temperature and give away flashes of light.

It could be many things that have a reasonable axplanation.

Royal Caribbean- Explorer of the seas?

.

Ok, it says the room rates are $1,187 (balcony) is that per night? Haha, i'm new to the whole cruise thing. And if you have been on this ship, whats it like?
If i wanted to go on Carnival would that be the same too? (per night, or i guess per person)
(and its 4 people)

Answer
I have not cruised on the Explorer but I have cruised on many Royal Caribbean ships, including two of the twin sister ships to the Explorer, All cruise cabins on all cruise lines are sold based on double occupancy and the prices listed will be per person and based on at least two people going on the cruise. (If you have a 3rd and/or 4th person in your cabin their fare is generally about 50% of the first two persons. AND, sometimes cruise lines will run specials where the 3rd and 4th person in your cabin gets a huge discount and pay only about $200 each) The price you pay will depend mostly on the type cabin/accommodations that you choose.

There are 4 basic types of cabins on ships;
- inside (no window),................................⦠least expensive
- outside (a window or porthole),
- balcony/veranda, and
- suites and penthouses.......................... most expensive.

On some Royal Caribbean ships they have inside cabins that overlook an interior pedestrian mall and they are a great price. Royal Caribbean also has some family cabins that are slighter larger than others and a bit more comfortable for groups of 4 such as yours. You should look at this link: http://www.royalcaribbean.com/findacruise/cabinclass/home.do;jsessionid=000071ILZAEYYRRH9GEArVt5h6H:12hdhu6tq

The "FROM" prices you see will always be for an inside cabin. There are also some subcategories within each category with cabins on a higher deck, and/or a better location on ship (like midship), and/or that are slightly larger costing more. So as you browse, pay attention to the square footage of the cabins.

You can reserve a cruise by (1) booking on line; (2) by calling the cruise line, or (3) through a travel agent. You will pay at booking the minimum deposit which will be $250 per person for a 7 day cruise. The minimum will be more for a longer cruise, for example $450 per person for a 14 day cruise. The balance will be due approximately 60 days before the cruise departure date. But you can make periodic payment on line, with your travel agent, or with the cruise line. If you book within about 60 days of the cruise you will likely have to pay the full amount.

I have not been on the Explorer but have been on the Mariner of the Seas and the Adventure of the Seas which are identical Royal C ships. First of all you should click on this link to a virtual view and tour of the Voyager class ships. It will help you see and understand some of what is on board and where it is.
http://www.royalcaribbean.com/findacruise/ships/class/home.do;jsessionid=000071ILZAEYYRRH9GEArVt5h6H:12hdhu6tq?shipClassCode=VY&br=R

At the front of the ship on one of deck 11 there is a full service gymnasium will all types of exercise equipment. Then there is a covered pool area next to that that has a pool and two hot tubs. Then you go further back and step outside and there are two pools and 4 hot tubs with lounge chairs and bar service. Then toward the back of the ship on deck 12 is the kids area called Adventure Ocean, the Video Arcade, the Teen Disco, then on deck 13 is the Rock Climbing wall, the basketball court, the in-line roller skating track, a mini-golf course, and Johnny Rockets. So if you like these type activities the back of the ship up top is the place to go.

When you first board the ship the place to go to get something to eat (lunch will be ready) is the Windjammer Cafe which is on deck 11. The ship has a pedestrian mall down its center and there is a place to shop and get food 24/7, including hot pizza. The ship also has an internet cafe on deck 8, and a library on deck 9. The ice skating rink is on deck 3 in the center of the ship. There will be a free ice show in that room that you should not miss.
