I am between 6 and 8 dpo, would it be ok to get in a hot tub?

DeAnna

I got a positive opk 9 days ago, but my temp didn't go up till 4 days ago.

Answer
I would avoid the hot tub if you are trying to conceive. My ob told me to avoid the hot tub, overly hot showers, saunas, and even electric blankets because they can adversely effect your fertility.

120 vs 240 hot tub set up..?

Joel S

im going to get my 1st hot tub and im trying to figure out if 120 or 240volt is better..
my understanding is 240 pulls less amps? making it cheaper to run?
i have some heavy gauge wire and theres a 220v plug in my garage.. looks like a normal outlet but top 2 prongs are horz instead of verticle..
would i just needa do some simple wiring to get the 240v tub going?
and are there benefits of 240 over 120? thanks
so do you save electricity by going 240 and pulling less amps?

Answer
I installed my hot tub using 240 volts. It is less amps, and as easy to wire as 120. Just get the numbers off of the plug on your hot tub, go to the hardware store and get the correct outlet. The one you have now may be the same as the one on your tub.
I wired my tub direct (no plug) with a GFCI, and a disconnect switch because we won't be moving it any time soon. I used 8 Ga. wire and put it in conduit all the way to the connection in the tub.
The closer to the power source the better. Make sure that the tub is level, and that there is good drainage. I leveled my site and used compacted crusher fines from my local concrete company.
Yes, you will generally pay less by going with 240 V.

How do you buy a Hot Tub on The Sims 3?

Jen

My sims keep wanting to get a Hot Tub, but I can't seem to find it anywhere. I've looked in buy mode, built mode and the family inventory but no Hot Tub! I have the Ambitions expansion and my games updated.

Thanks (:

Answer
Unfortunately, hot tubs do not come with the base game. You can get them with the Late Night expansion pack, but you can also acquire them by getting the Outdoor Living stuff pack too, which is cheaper than buying the Late Night expansion.

How much can I expect a hot tub to cost?

Lady Stran

I am looking for a nice 6 person hot tub w/ an ipod hook up.
No website will give me an estimate.

Answer
An outdoor tub needs to be installed on a level deck or concrete pad. Building a wooden deck can add $500 -$15,000 or more to the total cost, depending on size and complexity; a concrete pad can run $1,000 -$3,000 or more. If the installation site isn't already correctly wired or plumbed, adding an electrical outlet can add $75 -$800 to the total cost, and can be $1,000 -$2,000 or more for extensive electrical and plumbing trenching and installation.

Installing a spa indoors means being able to use it in all weather and with complete privacy, but you need a room with extra ventilation and humidity controls, and a water-proof flooring such as tile. Costs will depend on the extent of remodeling needed.

An in-ground outdoor spa averages about $15,000 -$20,000 or more, according to Better Homes & Gardens.

pregnancy and hot tubs?

socalteach

Okay, I keep reading about all the reasons I shouldn't go in a hot tub during pregnancy and most make sense, but I think the duration plays a key factor, does it not? Even if the water is over 101 degrees, doesn't it take some time to raise your body temperature? I don't think a person's body temperature increases as soon as you go into the hot tub.

I'm 10 weeks pregnant and I went in the hot tub last night for no more than 10 minutes. I know the water temperature was over 101 degrees, but it was at night (so it wasn't hot at all; it was slightly chilly) and I made a point to continuously get in and out of the water every minute or so to cool myself off and make sure that I wasn't completely submerging myself from the neck down for more than 5-10 seconds at a time. I think I'm safe to assume that my baby is okay, right?
Here's a quote from the "What to Expect When You're Expecting" book: "It's probably a good idea to refrain from LONG STAYS in the hot tub. Anything that raises the body temperature the body temperature over 102 degrees and KEEPS IT THERE FOR A WHILE is potentially hazardous to the developing embryo or fetus...Some studies have shown that a hot tub doesn't raise a woman's temperature to dangerous levels IMMEDIATELY--it takes at least TEN MINUTES..."

I capitalized the key words of the quote...so, duration does matter, right?? it's not so black and white...
Here's something else I found:

http://health.yahoo.com/topic/pregnancy/resources/article/healthwise/tn9082

Answer
hopefully your baby is OK... but next time maybe you should only stick your feet in. i don't know how long it takes to raise your body temp, but I'm not about to get into a hot tub for ANY amount of time. i don't want to risk hurting my baby even for a minute.

Hot Tub dangers during pregnancy?

what?

I am 7 weeks pregnant. I got in the a hot tub for about 15 min, but I did not put my whole body inside, just my lower body, and I had on a wet shirt. I was warm, but not uncormfortable. Is that dangerous?

Answer
I have a hot tub. My Dr. said it's okay as long as the temp isn't above 99 degrees and I don't stay in any longer than 1 cycle (15 minutes). I am 23 weeks pregnant. Good luck!

Is a 14 day or 9 day honeymoon cruise TOO LONG?

elledriver

I've never been on a boat before, let alone a cruise, LOL. I went to Disney World once for 6 days and after 3 days I had seen enough and wanted to go home. Is a 14 day or 9 Australian/New Zeland cruise too long for a honeymoon? It's being offered by Celebrity Cruises. What heck you do on a ship for more than 2 weeks (besides the obvious;) ? Do you get off and stay on land in a hotel for a few days or what....TY.
** We're in our mid to late 20's.

Answer
If you have not cruised before a 14 day cruise may be too long for you and the 9 day one may be more appropriate, especially since that cruise that you mentioned is to Australia. Actually I am already book on the 14 day Celebrity cruise to Australia, going on Feb 1, 2009. But I am a seasoned cruiser and know what to expect and how to enjoy myself on that type cruise.

When you cruise you want to look at two things. One, where the ship will stop and what tours and activities will be available that interest you and two what's on the ship to do while you are cruising from one port to the next.

Some time ago I answered a question about what can you do on ship this way. What you can do on ship depends on the ship but here's a list of activities available on various ships.

The things that you can do on ship will vary by the cruise line and the ship. Many of the newer ships of all of the cruise lines have more activities than there are on the older ships. Older ships would in general be those launched before about 2000.

The types and number of activities also varies by cruise line with Royal Caribbean Cruise Line having by far THE most activities. Things that may be available depending upon the ship:

- use the pools, hot tubs and water slides

- use the full service gymnasium with all types of free weights and exercise machines

- use the full service spa where you can get hair and nails done and massages and wraps.

- use the sauna and/or steam rooms

- use the mini-golf course and/or a golf driving range or golf simulator

- use the roller blade track and/or an ice skating rink. If there is an ice rink there will be an ice show like the ice capades

- use the rock climbing wall.

- use the full sized basketball/volleyball/tennis court

- play table tennis

-play with the over sized Chess/Checker sets and shuffle board

- use the walking/ jogging track

- use the video arcade

- go to a show room where there will be a show every evening, one for each dinner seating

- use the game room with games and cards provided

- use the internet cafe (they charge a fee for this)

- use the library with books provided or bring your own

- go to the disco that is open every night starting about 11:00 PM and lasting until the last person leaves.

- enjoy the piano bar and/or the sports bar; all ships will have lounges and cocktails bars at various places on ship

- some ships have a small movie theater and you can also watch movies (most for free) in your cabin. Princess has movies under the stars on top decks of some ships.

- enjoy free 24/7 room service

- use the casino for gambling

- eat the huge variety of food and plenty of it, seconds and thirds are OK too.

- sit on a deck or your cabin's balcony and watch the ocean go by.

- go to art auctions

- go to lectures and learning seminars on some ships

- go to the Karaoke bar

- enjoy wine tasting

- shop for souvenirs

There may even be a few others things that I have not listed. Remember that not all ships have all of these things. Some may have only a few.

While it will be nice to see Sydney and the other parts of Australia and New Zealand the tours that are offered are mostly scenic, cultural and historical. You will not have beach time and the opportunity to do things like you could do on a Caribbean cruise like jet ski, or para-sail, or swim with the dolphins or stingrays. The Australian cruise is likely to be quieter and more reserved because of the itinerary and also because that's typical with Celebrity cruise line. But it will be a great cruise on the Millenium. I have been on its twin sister the Constellation and it is a nice ship.

hot tub party last night?

Chiclacros

last night my friend had a hot tub party and alot of my guy friends came. (neighbors) and it was me, 8th grade my bro 6th grade and my 3 other neighbors 9th grade and 7th grade and about 5 other people she invited. Wellll we were allll in a five person hot tub and then my HOTT 7th grade neighbor kissed my friend ( her b-day party) and it was her 1st kiss. and my 6th grade brother EVEN GOT KISSED. Ugg i didnt kiss anyone and i have never kissed anyone. i am alittle jelous of my 6th grade brother and my best friend who kissed the guy i like. what should i do??! She is sooo excited

Answer
Ha, I'd say your best thing ot do is to just shurg it off... You should have plenty of time to meat a good guy to make out with... Though, if you like this guy enugh I'd get him into this hottub by yourself and just him :). But in seriousness, I'd say that this was probably just an innocent event and really didn't have much of a meaning for them... If you are wanting to go out with the guy that she kissed... I'd make it clear, tell him and such... NO other way for him to know...

Carnival Splendor Cruise?

stepik911

I'm 15 and i wanna know if there are any other teens going to this cruise on Aug 30 to mexico. Just Curious. Plus can u guys tell me about this cruise and what are some fun things to do on it? Hows the club, the food, the slide, the pool, the shows? Any general info would help. Thnkx!

Answer
There will be definitely a lot of other kids your age on the cruise. If you got to Club 02, for 15-17 year olds, you can meet them there and have a great time!

I found Club 02 amazing. It looked really cool, played good music, and I met great friends there. By the end of the week, we were all very comfortable with each other. The later you join, the more like an outside you may feel, like the new kid at school. So I recommend joining on the first night. They also had funny games, such as "Battle of the Sexes" and stuff. They also had Wii and board games, as well as TV and movies. They also have dances, unless everybody there just wants to hang out.

You should research the Splendor on carnival.com.

I've cruised with Carnival before. They have, depending on the ship;
- spa
- hot tubs
- pools
- spas
- bars
- waterpark
- ice cream bar
- salad bar
- sushi bar
- pizzeria
- cafés
- buffets
- dining rooms
- shows
- gym
- jogging track
- mini golf
- parties
- lessons
- contests/activities
- lots more

The food in the dining room is soo good. mmm. They even serve fries and stuff for picky eaters! The service in there was great as well.

The buffets had themes for lunches every day, eg. Caribbean food. They also had delicious food, but is more casual.

You can find pictures of the pools and waterslide on carnival.com.
I didn't like the pools so much - they were very salty yet I think also had chlorine in them! Don't waste all your time in their anyway. Pools can be found near home.

Shows are also great. I've watched a great 80's shows, and a latino themed show. I didn't like the second one very much (too many girls without much clothing on... I saw a LOT of ass cheeks), however their music one was great. They will probably have more or other shows. They also have comedy shows, which I believe are rated R after midnight.

Beverages are very expensive. If you drink a lot of soft drinks, the Fountain Fun Card gives you unlimited soft drinks throughout the duration of the cruise.

It's very windy on the top deck at night.

The staff is also great. They go out of their way to make you happy, and even aid you in problems not caused by them. They're also very friendly. I would walk around early in the day to say hi and smile at them. The waiters are also very great. They were friendly and remembered names. By the end of the cruise, a waiter and I had inside jokes, and he had also shown us lots of magic tricks haha.

That's all I can think of for now.
Have fun! =)

Feel free to email me from my profile page for any more questions.

Cruise to the Bahamas?

sure222

has anyone been on a cruise to the bahamas with norwegien cruise line? on the Norwegian Gem. Im thinking of going for 7 days in february. How was it?

Answer
I have been on eight (8) NCL cruises and we just cruised on the Gem the past two weeks. Here's what I wrote for my Cruise critic review.

Every since NCL started the Freestyle cruising I do not care for them any more. In spite of that I booked this cruise because of the good price and the itinerary which included Spain, Portugal, Morocco and Gibraltar. I could not find another line with this combination of port stops.
Overall I would rate this ship about a 5 on a 10 point scale. Other than being nice due to its newness (we were on its third voyage) it does not have any special features that stand out. Its one unique feature is the bowling alley but as a serious bowling I declined to pay the $5.00 per game to bowl. Bowling is about $150 a game at my local alley.

In my opinion the ship is not decorated very well. It has a lot of dark wood grain wall panels and not much in the way of good decor to complement the dark wood. Consequently, many areas of the ship are very dark. The ship has a Promenade Deck that allows you to walk all the way around the ship. But the walls of the rooms on deck 7 have been extended out a couple feet and that, along with equipment, the deck lounger chairs, and two shuffle board places on each side of the ship, restricts the ability to enjoy walking on the Promenade deck. There were NO seats on the Promenade deck, only lounge chairs for laying down. There was no passenger access to the bow of the ship.

The main dining hall is single story and accessible by a stairway between decks 6 and 7. It is also rather dark although it has picture windows looking out the back of the ship. The ship has a nice roomy casino with table games and a variety of slots, including a good selection of penny and multi-denominational slots. The main showroom is also dark and is not of a very good design. It can be accessed from deck 6 or 7 but if you enter on deck 6 you find yourself halfway toward the front of the room. Navigation in the room is not good at all because you have to cross over other passengers to access seats other than those on the two isles. Access would be better if there were isles along the walls.

The ship's gym was adequate with about a dozen each treadmills, and stepper/elliptical, plus some weight machines. I did not tour or use the spa facilities. The pool deck has two pools that are about 20 ft by 40 ft. They are separated by a stage for the band. One pool is for adults only and there are 4 hot tubs which will accommodate about 8 people each. The couple times that I used these the water was not very hot. There is a kids water play area and a water slide. The pool deck has some nice thick padded lounge chairs and different type sitting/lounging areas. But space was limited; there is no covered pool or hot tub. There is a game room and library and these were quite often full.

The ships atrium is not much of an atrium as far as I am concerned. It is mid ship and two story with the purser's desk, tour's desk and a very small Internet café on deck 7 and on the second level reached by stairs as well as elevator, two of the free specialty restaurants. The ceiling and furniture in the atrium could stand a make over; not very pretty or stylish.

The ship has several shops with the usual fare. BUT, what was conspicuously missing was any souvenirs at all from any of the countries we made ports stops in. Instead there was "stuff" that looked like it was from Holland (windmills, shoes, etc.) but not a single item from the ports we stopped in.

The ship has a very nice lounge called the Spinnaker which is on the front of the ship on deck 13. Its nice and also has some very unusual decor and furniture. It has a couple TV screens, an automated Roulette table for gambling, a couple dart boards, a pool table, and a table top shuffle board game. These latter two you must pay to use; do not know how much.

Our balcony cabin was nice but not as nice as others I have had. It had a nice bed, a rather small 15 inch HD TV, plenty of closet space, lots of shelf space, but only 3 drawer. It has a fee basis mini bar and a safe. It also had some furniture that I do not think needed to be there, i.e., a stool, a straight chair, and a pedestal table that all seemed to be out of place.

The TV had more channels devoted to things on ship, like tours, activities, the bow view, the art sale, etc., than it did usable channels for viewing. It had one English language movie channel and two others that were Spanish and German/French. The TV program guide advertised CNN but all we got was FOX news and BBC World. The TV had ESPN but all it ever had on it both in our cabin or anywhere else we saw it on ship was soccer or tennis. There were TV screens at various places on ship but no real sports bar.

As I said up front we booked this cruise knowing we did not care for freestyle cruising and nothing on this cruise changed our minds. My plan was to just book a standing 6:00PM reservation for the main dining hall each day. But we found that they would only accept reservations for 2 days at a time. So every other day we had to remember to make a reservation. Those who did not reserve were often left standing in line awaiting a table or to be seating (the line was usually about 10 couple deep). At some point each evening they went to issuing buzzers for those waiting a table.

Service in the main dining room the first day was terrible; took an hour and a half. After that the service was OK. The meals were OK, nice food but nothing I wanted to order seconds of. The lobster night turned out to be half a lobster tail along with a couple shrimp, scallops and muscles. There was a prime rib night but not a fillet mignon night. There were no special deserts either and most were passe and the same as what was available in the leisure meal buffet area, the Garden Café. The Garden Café was the buffet meals place and you always had to hunt for a seat there. It was always crowded and on a couple occasions I reported to the staff that they needed to do something about the flies that were buzzing around in the window wells.

We ate in two of the alternative "specialty" restaurants; the free ones, La Cucina (Tex-Mex) and Blue Lagoon (open 24 hrs). The best things we had a in either was the soup and salad. The fish in the fish & chips was more breading than fish. The Chicken Fahitas was missing a lot of chicken, mostly onion and pepper.

The shows on ship were pretty good, except there was a juggler who was terrible. The ship has a very small internet cafe with 8 stations situated in the atrium area. But in addition to the very high cost of internet access, they also charge a fee of $4.50 to sign up.

I had several things happened that sealed my/our never going on another NCL cruise. First, on the first day of the cruise we never saw our cabin steward until about 9:30 PM when we were headed in for bed. Before that she never came around to introduce herself, as has been my experience on other cruises. On several occasions after she came in she did not remove dirty dishes and glasses from the room and her cleaning schedule was more suited to her than to us. We would go out for 3 hours and when we returned she had not cleaned or made up the room.

On the first formal, or as they call it "dress up if you want" night, we went to the atrium to have photo taken. We wanted just one on the atrium stairs. The photographer refused to take the picture unless we also took three other shots in front of painted canvasses. In addition, when we went to look at our boarding picture we found that all of the photos in the gallery were locked under glass and you had to have the attendant unlock the cabinet to retrieve them to look at. This was not like I have ever had it on any other ship.

On the day of one of our port stops I went to the purser's desk to get a $50 Euro bill changed; all I wanted was 2 twenties and a ten. The purser refused, saying that he didn't have that much change. Then as I stood there the next person in line behind me asked to BUY $200 worth of Euros and the purser then had plenty of change for that. Seems that he wanted to save all of his Euros for people buying money. A few days later I learned from another passenger that she had the same problem with the purser refusing to change a $50 Euro bill.

That was my experience. If you decide you will go on the Gem you will probably enjoy it. But its nowhere near as nice as many other new ships I have been on like the new Royal Caribbean's Freedom of the Seas. I suggest/ recommend the RC's Freedom, Liberty or Independence ahead of the NCL ship.

Cal Spas Indianapolis good price?

Jim T

We are set on purchasing a Cal Spas A857B hot tub. The Watson's dealer in Indianapolis lowered his price from $7,999 to $7,000. I'd like to know if this is a good deal, as it has been very tough to compare prices with hot tubs.

Answer
I have a Cal Spa. It is under warranty and has been broken now for nearly 9 months. And, yes, the initial damage was covered by the warranty (there is now collateral damage caused by the hot tub being non-functioning as well). They have not been able to repair it and the refuse to refund or replace it so we are now having to take them to court. Please read the numerous similar stories on ripoffreport.com before you consider buying anything from them.

why do they say that the hot tub/spa is bad for males?

Armond B

whats the deal? what damage does that do? is the damage permanent or just temporary? and what about really hot showers? does that do the same amount of damage?

Answer
Actually both of your answers so far are kind of wrong, you do produce new sperm constantly but.... a hot tub and really tear up your sperm count. here is a paragraph from a website on medical information, it is very reliable. good luck to you.

Reality: You might want to rethink buying that hot tub if you're planning on having children in the near future. According to Dr. Graham Greene, an associate professor in the UAMS Department of Urology, elevated water temperature can effect spermatogenesis, or the process of sperm formation. "I advise any male interested in fathering a child to avoid temperatures greater than 100 degree. It can take up to six months to recover normal sperm parameters," says Dr. Greene. These include sperm count, movement, shape and structure. Men are most likely to be fertile with a count greater than 20 million sperm per milliliter, if more than 50 percent of sperm are moving and more than 30 percent of the sperm have a normal shape and structure.

what should i do i live in an apartmet with no $ and literally NOTHING in my fridge or freezer wut to do?

blondcalih

just kidding but i wanted to hear ur ridiculous answers! Lol!

Answer
Air and Water The first needs are for clean air to breathe and for clean water to drink. These needs are the easiest to meet. The air is free and water to drink is also easy to find. Drinking fountains are everywhere in cities and creeks and springs abound in the country. There are many sources to fill up water bottles without having to pay for it.

Food The next need is for food. In America we have become accustomed to eating three times a day and if we miss a meal we feel awful. This is an aberration. Humans are quite capable of living on a lot less food than we are used to eating. In fact, our digestive system never gets a rest. We would be healthier if we ate less. We would also be healthier if we ate less processed foods. If we skipped one meal every other day or fasted one day a week our food costs would be reduced by about 15%. But we still need to eat something. Here are four ways to get free food listed in order of how much work it takes to get it.

1. Forage â There are many resources available on harvesting wild edible plants in every climate. Itâs amazing the amount of free, healthy food grows as weeds all over this country. There are abandoned orchards, and gardens that have gone wild, too.

2. Scrounge â Grocery stores throw out a lot of produce that is still mostly good. The big stores have rules against this but small rural markets probably wonât mind. Food items that have reached their expiration dates have to be pulled from the shelves even if the food is still good. Restaurants throw out a lot of food, too. Itâs strange that there are laws requiring restaurants to throw the food away rather than giving it away. What a waste. You might be able to arrange a deal with them anyway.

3. Grow your own â If you can find a piece of land to grow a small garden you can grow some of your food supply without much work. Maybe a friend or acquaintance has a small area they would want food grown on. You could plant the garden and share the bounty. Some people plant small gardens on city, county, or state property. Yes, you are taking the chance that your garden could be removed at any moment, but it probably wonât be.

4. Barter â trade some of your time working on an organic farm or at a small market for food. Trade a skill you have for dinner. My wife used to periodically offer to do a small drawing or painting of a restaurant or its owners in exchange for a meal or two. Make yourself available as an entertaining dinner guest!

Clothing A tremendous amount of clothing can be found for little or no money. I have realized on occasion that I was wearing an outfit that cost me less than $2 (including shoes!) that would have cost almost $200 if I had bought it at a store. I got four pairs of hardly worn Patagonia shorts for fifty cents each at a yard sale once and just last week I found a $60 pair of shoes my size lying on a deserted beach. Now that was an unusual find, but thrift stores have stacks of shoes for really cheap. People are always cleaning out their closets and might be happy to give stuff to you. We live in a society of abundance. In the USA people throw away more each week than many third world residents accumulate in a year.

Shelter You donât have to live in a cardboard box to have free shelter. You can have a luxurious house! One person I met made herself available as a house sitter and was so much in demand, especially in the summer, that there was no shortage of choices of which house to live in. I have had care-taking opportunities offered to me in resort areas of Mexico during the off-season. There are many wealthy people with summer homes, winter homes, hobby ranches and mountain cabins that need people to take care of their property while they are away. An artist near here takes care of a beautiful ranch for its distant owners. He has the use of all the facilities, including the hot tub, all year except for the two weeks per year that the owners vacation there. The owners have to work so hard to pay for the property that they canât "afford" to live there. The artist lives there for free!

Luxuries Now that your basic needs are covered, how about free luxuries? Theyâre available, too. Travel, for example. You can drive a car almost anywhere in the country for free. You are delivering the car for someone else. They pay the gas. You get the free ride. There is an air courier association that can get you extremely cheap and sometimes free flights to many destinations in Europe and Asia. You deliver a packet of papers, take your vacation, and fly home. Your round-trip flight is paid for by someone else. If you travel to a country where English is not the primary language and you can speak and write it fluently, you can exchange your language skills for many things. Write a menu for a restaurant in exchange for food. Make signs in English for a hotel and get free lodging.

The library is an incredible free resource. Thousands of books are available for nothing. In the U.S. most libraries have computers and some offer free or very cheap Internet access. You can get a free e-mail address and a free web-site from the major Internet portals.

Dumpster diving is a hobby you can take up. Itâs amazing what you can come up with. If you are in the right areas you can get free computers, phones, and all kinds of slightly out-of-date technology. Furniture, building materials, bicycles and more are available for nothing to the person who has time to look for it.

what should I wear to the firing range?

Brandon

I am not very sure on what to wear for the firing range I feel that I should wear jeans and a tshirt but I'm not sure if anybody could help that would be great thank you.

Answer
Most people are dressed fairly "normal" and comfortably. Make sure it is weather appropriate. Don't forget sunblock if it is outside.

I have noticed in the past, that if I'm wearing a collared shirt like a polo, brass that is flying will often catch the collar and fall down my shirt. This actually has happened to me more than a few times. This often happens to girls wearing low cut tops as well. Those hot little pieces of brass just love getting into places they aren't meant to be. While its not usually hot enough to do damage, you end up looking a bit like an idiot doing a little dance trying to get it out. A regular t-shirt will do just fine.

Make sure to wear comfortable, closed toed shoes. Any sneakers or boots will do just fine.

A hat is a very useful thing to wear at the range. To cut down on glare, shield your face from the sun, and help block brass that may come your way. Yes... again with the brass. Depending on the range you are at, and the proximity of other shooters, sometimes its inevitable.

Ear protection/ear protection is a must at all times. I usually just wear my sunglasses, but I like to keep a spare pair of clear or amber frames in my bag in case it becomes overcast. In general, any pair of sunglasses or prescription glasses are enough. But hardware store glasses are usually very cheap, and can be found for less then a 5 bucks.

For ear protection, cheap foam disposable earplugs are usually the bare minimum. I always have a few extra sets in my range bag, as they are super cheap. You can usually buy a big tub of them from walmart for under 10 bucks, or smaller individual ones for less than a $1 each. If you want to go for more protection, than a set of over the ear headmuffs usually start at about $15. Shooting at an indoor range will be louder than at an outdoor range, this is due to the acoustic qualities in the room itself. Many ranges will have these available for rent or sale at their location.

Don't forget water and snacks. Just remember to wash your hands before you eat.

Find A cheap Hot Tub?

vetten86

Answer
Best advice is to keep an eye on the classified ads in your local newspaper. People sometimes sell hot tubs and spas when they no longer use them. The closer to your home you can find one, the cheaper it will be to buy because of transportation costs. If you need to buy a new one, check with Lowe's or Home Depot. They usually have the best prices and can arrange for installation.

Good luck with your hot tub search.

Hot Tub...?

Q. How much would a 3 year old Sundance Bahia Spa be worth?

http://www.allseasonsspas.net/bahia.html

Answer
Your Bahia is a great tub made by Sundance. As a former Sundance dealer I would tell you to start at $3500.00 assuming it really is in good condition. A new one can be had at $5800.00 or so. Most used tubs I see sell are usualy around the 1500 to 2k range. Hopefully it is in an easy location to move it from. I always suggest to people to empty it, put it on furniture dolleys and then get a roll back to move it from one place to the other. Usually the easiest and cheapest way to move a tub from one place to another. The parts for that tub are not that expensive and it's structure is very solid.

what do I use to move a jacuzzi tub 76width X 87 inches length X 32 inches in height?

REDFOUR

I live in Westchester, NY any ideas?
yes i am moving from one house to another
it is a hot tub

Answer
OOOHH, now you will learn WHY people end up giving these beasts away when they have to move 'em...

I bought an 8x8 massive tub last month, had the joy of moving it from one house to another.

Here's my findings!

1. four guys aren't enough; 5-6 would make life simple. you need a couple guys to steer the tub and more to push & pull.

2. a trailer MADE for hot tubs! Dont make my mistake and trust your buddy to "find you one." We ended up with a motorcycle/snowmobile trailer that was too small for the job and that was a huge waste of time and my SANITY! Dont bother with UHAUL, call your local equipment rental company and they will have a hot tub trailer and a hot tub dolly for rent--spend the money, its well worth it.

3. LEVERAGE is your friend. Work smarter, not harder. Drain the tub completely, including the plumbing/pipes--water is HEAVY. We turned the tub on its end, used two 16 foot 2x4's under the tub and slid the tub onto the trailer and used the 2x4's for lifting of the tub and like a snow-sled to slide the tub. I like the idea of a scrap piece of carpet as well from the other posts.

go slow!

How much would it cost to lay a concrete patio for a 6 person hot tub? In columbus ohio?

hayes271

Answer
Without any dimensional information, its hard to give you an accurate guess. So, if you know your cubic foot dimensions for this project, the number of cubic feet will equal the number of 20 pound bags of concrete you will need. Prices vary from $2.99 to $5.99 per bag (depending on what type you buy). You will also need reinforcement netting, probably a few bags of stone to fill and strengthen the bottom, and some lumber for the frame.

Example: for an 8 x 8 x .5 foot slab.

8x8=64
64/2=32 bags of concrete

If a bag of concrete costs $2.99 then,

$2.99 x 32 bags = $95.68

Throw in four 100 lb bags of chipped stone at $6.99 per bag,

4 x $6.99 = $27.96

Wire mesh x 1 roll at $5.99
$95.68 + $27.96 + $5.99 = $129.63 total.

Note: Thats just an estimate and an example fo how to determine the cost. I'd sya for around $200.00 you can build something really nice, finish it off with decorative stone or brick.

Good Luck on your project.

Where can you find a person to install a hot tub?

Jenn

I just bought a hot tub from a friend and all I need to do now is get it installed. I have no idea how to do it myself so I was going to get a professional to do it, but i have no idea how I am suppose to find somebody. Where do I start, who should I call, how can I make sure im not getting ripped off. Any help would be great.

Answer
If this is a self contained outdoor unit you will need someone for a concrete slab maybe a carpenter for a wood stair case, deck or fence or a landscaper if you want to go hard-scape and vegetation. You will also need an electrician.

You can find all these people in the yellow pages. Ask for references talk to friends and never pay any money up front. Never.

If this is a bathroom addition you will be looking for someone who does bathroom remodels.

Demolition, framing, plumbing, electrical, drywall, painting, finish carpentry and maybe someone for some tile work.

If you don't want to call all those people just get a hold of a general contractor for a bathroom remodel.

If you don't want to get ripped off get multiple estimates comparing apples to apples.

I would highly suggest a second water heater for a bathroom hot tub.

How does a person maintain a hot tub?

Celtic Pea

What are the normal procedures?

Answer
I used to have an outdoor jacuzzi . .and I now have an indoor jacuzzi tub.
With the outdoor jacuzzi, I had to maintain it just like a swimming pool. The water has to be kept purified. We floated a chlorinator in it. Or sometimes we put in powdered chlorine. It's essentially a small swimming pool and you must treat it accordingly. Monitor the pH level too, with a kit designed for that purpose.

With the indoor tub, I run bleach water through the jets occasionally (I fill the tub to the jets, and dump in about 2 cups bleach and run the jets for about a minute.

My hot tub won't heat?

Roxanne

Ok, now I am sure no one has a clue what I am about to talk about since it is such an obscure model, but I have a Hot Springs Soveriegn Model I hot tub. Everything works on it, jets, pumps, lights, but the heater won't work. According to the owner's manual, it says that if everything but the heater is working, then the heater probably tripped and to just push the red button on top of the thermal cut off to reset it. So I cracked open the control section, located the heater and thermal cut off, etc.... NO RED BUTTON! I looked online, found that some other people had this problem, but some people found it. I emailed the manufacturer, and they gave me the "pass the buck" answer and told me to buy a new heater. I tried to explain that their owner's manual was wrong and I wanted to try the "reset" before throwing $300 for a new heater, but I didn't get much help after that. Anyway... Anybody know any other way to check out the heater?

Thanks!

Answer
Hello. Your Hotsprings Hot Tub was their number one best seller. What I really need to know is the year of it. The really old ones will havea red tip button that is a hight-limit reset button, located on the spa pack. If it is newer and your heater has a tube that is looped and a small black rectangular box attached to it then you need to feel for a small round rubber place on that that you can depress with your finger. Depending on your model your heater night not be this newest style and your in trouble then. The most common reason it is not heating is one of the two sensors are bad on that heater. They simply screw in. And are really cheap to buy (20-30). Replace the temp sensor first. Now if neither sensor is bad...it is your heater and I have to tell you that Their heaters are notorious for needing replacing every few years. The one other thing you need to make sure of is that your small little circ pump is indeed working since they also break often. Next if you have a new IQ2020 pack. Remove the cover with the electric off and look at the board on the left and you may need to even remove it to examine the back of the board. These boards have relays that burn. It's the most common heater problem I find with a Hot Springs Tub.

why is my hot tub overheating?

howard

Answer
There are three common reasons:

a) Improperly set thermostat - check that first. Make sure that it is set at the correct level. Older spas with rheostat-type thermostats often drift, so you may have to work the dial a little.

b) Failed thermostat - older mechanical thermostats can fuse in the closed position, driving the heater to run full-time until its internal thermal-fuse melts (thereby scrapping the heater).

c) Failed heater relay - again, these relays carry a lot of current and can fuse in the closed position.

Try shutting the system down and allowing the tub to cool - several hours at least. Then re-start it and see if it is still in a runaway condition. Electronic controls will reboot and/or reset if it is not a failed part - so this may cure the problem. Otherwise:

In may cases, mechanical controls age out to the point of unreliability. If your spa control is more than 10 - 15 years old and of that nature you are due to replace it in any case. All-eletronic controls may have a mother-board failure or relay failure - and you would need a professional to diagnose that problem. Unless you know _exactly_ what you are doing, call a pro. Electricity and water are nothing to mess with - even when ground-faulted.

Good luck with it.

what are good resources for staying in florida in an rv trailer new at this!?

Around St Augustine, sebring also, traveling from WI, 1st and 2nd week of Jan. leaving

Answer
I am sorry I do not fully understand the question. Are you looking for RV parks in St. Augustine? If so here are some that I recommend:

Try out the North Beach Camp. They have everything you need for a great trip, and they are near the ocean. They have a store, playground, shower house, Library, game room you name it. It is very clean and in a great location here is their website for more information:
http://www.northbeachcamp.com/amenities.html

There is also a KOA campground in St. Augustine. Those are always really nice, and again they have everything you need. This one is only a few minutes away from downtown, and very close to the beach. The people that own it are really nice and can help you out with anything you need just give them a call or check out their site. They have all kinds of activates, a very nice pool. Free wireless internet access and so much more. It really is a nice place.
http://www.koa.com/where/FL/09205/

I might also check out The Ocean Grove RV Resort. Again another awesome place located just off of A1A and only a few minutes from historic downtown. You are located right there on the beach. Not only do they have RV spots but also homes for rent and more. This is a full service RV park and they have done a wonderful job on keeping the natural surrounding of the area. They have a pool, store, horseshoes, fishing, bike rentals, hot tub, bathhouse, cable, internet and so much more! This place has the most amenities out of all the RV parks in the area.
http://www.oceangroveresort.com/community.html

There are several websites that list RV parks in St. Augustine and all around the country. You might find these of interest.
http://www.knowaboutnetwork.com/csb.php?l='st.-augustine'&t=recreation-rv-parks&cat=760&cityid=12&nbr=0
http://www.hikercentral.com/campgrounds/103851.html
http://www.rvparkreviews.com/regions/Florida/St._Augustine.html
http://www.thecampingsource.com/Campgrounds/Florida/St%20Augustine/St%20Johns%20Rv%20Park.htm
http://www.sno-bird.com/rvp-stau.htm
http://www.rv-america.com/fl/fl-staug.htm

There is so much to do in St. Augustine you really are going to love it. Make sure you take the direct route to any of the campsites. You do not want to be driving an RV downtown in the historic area. Most of the streets are very narrow and hard to drive in an SUV or truck! Be sure to check out St. George Street. Take time to see the Spanish Quarter, really just amazing! Also take a tour of the Castillo De San Marco. You will never forget it. A ghost tour here is always fun, they have riding and walking tours. Great for the whole family. Be sure to check out Scarlet OâHaraâs and for the BEST Breakfast and all around food check out the Oasis. The locals love this place. The Reef restaurant located a little bit out of town is just amazing all the tables have a view of the water. Also be sure to pick up the Big Fat Coupon Book. Trust me it saves you a ton of money on everything. They are free you might be able to get it at the RV park if not check out the visitors center they have them. Be sure to get your gas on the mainland not on the island it is cheaper on the mainland. Also donât forget to check out the lighthouse and Alligator Farm. Maximo is great!

Also if you are new to the RV thing pack light, only take what you are going to need. Trust me your space fills up real quick and even quicker when you are buying stuff to bring home. By small versions of everything and get use to going to the grocery store every few days. Trust me in St. Augustine you will be outside a lot so take some party lights, bring some chairs and get ready for a good time. Have a wonderful trip!

birthing at home?

Mommy of 1

my cousin wants to have a home birth with just her and her husband. She is 25 and completely healthy. Her midwife said that she doesnt prefer it but it is her baby and as long as everything goes ok she can do it. The midwife said that she will have to gather supplies. What will she need for an unnassisten home water birth? anyone have any good websites with stories and possible pictures? she wants as much reference as possible! thanks angie and lily
lily is due on March 5th. So she is starting to gather supplies. thanks!!!

Answer
I was also 25 when my son my born and I also had a planned unassisted homebirth and unassisted pregnancy. Everything went great!!
I didn't give birth in the water. But I did sit in the hot tub to relieve pain. And when I felt the baby crown, I got out of the water and got on the bed, in a kneeling position. I gave some pushes and the baby came out! Wow I felt euphoric and empowered for weeks, like I've been on cloud 9!

What I did when I was in labor was WALK, WALK, WALK alot in our bedroom. I also ran a hot comfortable shower down my back. I drank a lot of water and I ate some. Then my spouse ran a hot comfortable bath and I soaked in there and rested until I felt the baby was ready to come out. If you do not push, the baby will come out naturally by themself. Or you can push gently, so the baby can come out faster. Make sure to put oil in your perineum so you will not tear.
If you tear, it will heal anyway, so don't worry.

*You can also buy a birthing stool to rest when you are tired of walking. Birthing balls are great too!
Birthing stool available here------> http://birthwithsol.com/birthstool1.html
Birthing ball available here-----> http://birthwithsol.com/bisu.html

After the baby was born, we put the baby on my chest. And wow, the baby was sooooo peaceful, he never gave a loud cry like other babies born in the hospital. And we waited for the placenta to be born. *Do not cut the cord when it is still pulsing. Wait to cut the cord when it turns white. Or wait till the midwife arrives so she can do it.

If I had a midwife, I would not even tell her that I would go UC. I will just have a UC birth as planned and would just call the midwife after the baby is born.
That's what I heard other people did.

For UC, I got the "Emergency Childbirth" available on amazon-------> http://www.amazon.com/Emergency-Childbirth-Gregory-J-White/dp/0934426015/sr=8-1/qid=1167713307/ref=pd_bbs_sr_1/104-0526055-1012765?ie=UTF8&s=books

Pictures of a woman giving birth in the tub-------> http://unassistedchildbirth.com/uc/catch.html

Be sure to read this page on unassisted birth and other questions about it here------> http://unassistedchildbirth.com/uc/

*** I also have unassisted childbirth VHS video that I bought from Laura Shanely. Plus I also have another VHS video with 8 uc births! If you want them, I will be happy to send them to you, if you pay for postage. This helped me make the decision to UC.

Please email me by clicking on my nickname. If you have any other questions or if you are interested in the UC videos.

Hot Tub from Home Depot?

italien_ch

I was looking into buying a hot tub, but i really did not want to spent alot of money. I saw some hotubs out there for $16,000. I found one at the Home Depot for only $4298. The model I liked is the Crete 390S. It is an 8 person tub with 40 jets! If you have ever owned or ever been in a Home Depot hot tub or have any experiecne with this hot tub, please write a review for it or tell me anything i should know before i purchase this tub.
Thank-you

Answer
Hello.

I have to tell you I use to sell Sundance Spas and Master Spas. Two great spa lines. Now I repair every hot tub line that is sold under warranty in the USA. The Infinity spa is a good decent solid entry-mid level spa. They use Balboa electronics and water way jets etc... I do like their customer service when you do get them (It may take 15 minutes) since they do note everything and relay it to me the service guy in a nice form and timely manner. They have fast service times compared to most of the other companies I do work for.

The thing you really need to take note of is if you buy their best you will be able to buy it almost three times (or repair it 5 times) compared to the top brands one time. That is something to realize since every tub is going to break in time. Most of the time due to bad chemistry.

RW please hardwire your Dream maker spa. The failure rate for the corded GFI is very high and causes fires in some of them that I have seen.

Looking to buy a hot tub. Which one ?

wednconsul

We have seen Hot Springs Soverign, Sundance Cameo, Optima, Master spa LSX 700. All have good features and soem less so. We are very confused and want to narrow it down before wet test. We live on Long lIsland , NY and and electric rates are high so it is a consideration but not the breaking poiint since all sem to be fairly close. Thanks

Answer
Those are three great tubs! BUT...I am not a fan of the ancient technology as far as jets go for the hotspring tubs so that was the easiest to elminate. I think Sundance is one steller product from top to bottom, but it does not have that seat the LSX has. I am in love with that captains seat. By the way I sold Sundance and was happy...then went to Masterspa and was happier. I traded my Maxxus for a 1050 LSX. Being where you are just make sure your local dealer has been in business for a while. They really are both great tubs but I have 80% of my back fused so for me it's more about therapy so I need those extra jets. All three have excellent warranties on what maters and that is the equipment/plumbing (not the structure and shell). The actual cost will not vary more then 10 bucks a month between the three. All htree have excellent insulation. Just make sure you have the thickest cover available. NOw to really make you confused...if Masterspa had sundances jets....(How they are made) I would never even think of another brand. Zero repairs in 3 years and I can't even begin to tell you how many Hotsprings jets I replace.

What are the things to look for when buying a spa/hot tub?

batman253

I have asked this question twice without getting a good answer so far-I am considering buying a spa/hot tub. I do not want to spend too much money to buy one.
There are so many different styles of spa/hot tubs. What are things that I am looking for in a quality spa/hot tub? I am concern about spending a lot of money for one that may lead to major repairs in near future.
Also-can someone explain to me what to look for in spa/hot tub to avoid dry rot and not to have the pumps & motor go bad.
How much horsepower is good to have to be considered a good buy?
Any advise would be greatly appreciated....

Answer
Okay, here we go. Go to a spa dealer or manufacturer and ask to sit in an EMPTY tub. One size does NOT fit all. If you are 5 ft. 6 you need a different tub than if you are 6 ft. 5. Try a number of them until you find one that feels right. You will be more buoyant when it's full of water, but you don't want to have to hold on to keep from floating away. Next, discuss with the dealer exactly which parts you want massaged most. Upper back, lower back, neck, shoulders, calves, feet, etc. There are a gazillion different types of jets (and jet clusters) each of which is designed to massage certain areas. (Remember, a spa is MORE than a soak in hot water. If that's what you want just fill the bath tub and soak away!) A spa is more like a marriage counselor with bubbles.
Next, try to avoid the temptation to over buy. Seems everybody wants a huge spa. Truth is, you will generally be in it either alone or with one other person. Why pay for way more spa than you actually need? My first one was a big one. Several spas later I have a tiny one that seats 4 people tops. Usually I am in it alone, or with my bride. Now about horsepower. The dealer can direct you best. Depends on the type and number of jets used. Soaking in a spa should be relaxing. You shouldn't get bruised from sitting in front of a too powerful jet. Flow rates are very important when properly sizing a spa pump (or pumps.)A good dealer will know best. If he doesn't, then walk away and find one that does. All of them are going to tell you their brand is best. Few will actually try to "customize" a tub just for you. That's the one you want to use. Different sizes, seating arrangements, jets, and then colors. Then the equipment. All of these factors make a spa a pleasure, or a disappointment.
Hope this helps.

Which is better Seaworld san antonio or schlitterbahn galveston?

12345

please list why. it is for a upcoming vacation.

Answer
depends on if you want to get wet and get moving! Seaworld is great for watching shows, etc. But I love Schlitterbahn in New Braunfels better than anywhere I've ever been. It's just up the road from San Antonio & it's huge! You can take an entire cooler full of food and drinks (NO GLASS), drop off your cooler & towels off at a picnic table and go play. They have lockers for cameras, purses, etc. Anytime you get hungry just meet back at the picnic table. They furnish all the innertubes!!! Everybody can find something they like. They even have a bar in the hot tub! Be sure to stay overnight someplace within a 2-3 hour drive. You'll be so tired, you won't be able to stay awake to drive farther. They do have rooms onsite. You don't have to stand in lines too long. I think the longest we had to stand was 30 minutes. BE SURE to wear some kind of water shoes or sneakers. The cement gets really hot in places and will burn your feet! It's worth every penny and was just on TV as one of the top 10 water parks in the country! Check to see if you can purchase discount tickets thru your bank. Have fun!!!! Don't forget your sunscreen!

- General comedy
- Dark humor
- Stupid humor [like, Napoleon Dynamite]
- Low budget.
- Indie / Independent films
- 1980's or early 1990's. [favorite of mine]
- Cult classics.

If anyone could recommend a movie in any of these categories, I would really appreciate it.
Thanks!

honeymoon ideas on budget?

sweet-

I have like 1 thousand to 1.5 thousand if that...any ideas??

Answer
I know this is going to sound out of your budget, but its not!
A cruise.....
Ok, dont laugh yet!
A cruise (I am thinking royal, just bacuse that is what I have done)
For a room with a window (if you are honeymooning, you will have little use for the view anyways!) Is like 400 - 500 a person. This includes food and traveling to see whereever you are. Drinks cost extra, but I have found if you buy a wine package (maybe 200 if you want to splurge!) its pretty good. You have pools, hot tubs, and most the time the excursions are kinda dumb (I have been on soooo many where I wish I would have just stayed on the ship and been in the pool). So you can walk around, get a nice view, travel, have good food. I would highly suggest looking into something like that. If you can, get on a voyager class ship. they are decently priced and *very* nice. They arent the best out there (freedom, liberty, genisus) but unless you have been on a cruise 3-4 times a year, you wont notice the difference.

Also, check out somewhere with a nice beach. You dont need to go all out, maybe something you can afford right now, find a decent hotel and if you really want something big, go on a anniversary trip later!

Hot Tub Help!!!!?

-allie(:

k, i've scrubbed all the stains off and now there is mucky and gross water all in my hot tub. i don't wanna drain it.. since i am on the second floor and there is indoor/outdoor carpet.. but i don't want to shovel it out with buckets either because it will splash all over the downstairs patio. HELP PLEASE!
I don't know.. I'm only thirteen! and it's alot of water.. and i don't wanna drain it onto the indoor/outdoor carpet. ughh..this is hard. lol. i guess i can throw it unto the grass. thanks anyways..

Answer
Cool...you listened to my advice...let me tell you how to clean out the mucky and gross water...

Bucket out all the water, so there's only muck and "gross" left...because the muck and "gross" are wet, you can easily wipe them off with towel(s) and paper towels.

Pour the water into your toilet bowl, or down a sink drain.

If there are still any yucky stuff, keep on getting the yucky stuff wet and then wiping it away...

Sorry, don't know what an indoor outdoor carpet is.

An in-ground outdoor spa averages about $15,000 -$20,000 or more, according to Better Homes & Gardens.

can I use bromine and chlorine in my hot tub?

diver8718

Answer
NO. Please do not mix the two. If you are currently using chlorine then either drain the hot tub and start over or wait until the chlorine tests at zero and then change over.

Bromine is better for hot tubs because it is more stable than chlorine in higher temps.

free chlorine to high according to strip test in hot tub?

Road K

Answer
This is a mercy answer - you've given almost no informsation that is useful in understanding precisely what your question is. If you mean you stuck the Ph strip in the hot tub and it came out as too acidic or too alkaline then that's one thing. Free chlorine is what kills off the bacteria, it's good to have it high, to a point. When chlorine combines with ammonia, body sweat, etc. it forms chloramines and the chlorine isn't "free" anymore. Chloramines are what causes the chlorine smell that people talk about incorrectly. So how do you get rid of chlorimines? You superclorinate and when you do that you do not want to be in the hot tub until it's done and your Ph strips show everything is back to normal.

Who are the Foxboro Hot Tubs?

thatdude03

i found a link to their my space page, and it seems that this is another 'secret green day' band? does anyone know anything about this?

Answer
There is only much speculation now. Clearly you can tell it is Billie Joe's voice. It sounds more like his vocals in Kerplunk! (kind of not as polished as the new stuff but good nonetheless). Some of the bass lines also parallel to Mike Dirnt's. In the song Highway 1, the speaking in the beginning is without a doubt Tre Cool. If you have every heard his rendition of chocolate rain, he says at the end "you're doing it fcking wrong". This exact line is in the beginning of Highway 1.

On their myspace page on their top friends is the producer of The Network's Money Money 2020. Most of the other people on their top friends live in Oakland too (where the member's of Green Day live). I believe there is enough information to conclude that members of Green Day are involved in this.

Also, even their page lists them as "unsigned". How many unsigned artists do not put pictures of themselves all over the place? If it were a true unsigned band they'd want their image out everywhere.

In an interview with the Rolling Stone, Billie Joe had said that they have a bunch of songs written on piano. Possibly the Foxboro Hot Tub's songs are these. The style is clearly something new which is what Billie Joe said the new songs they had were.

If you look on the art work of their online album, there is a symbol of the church of lushotology (it's like a ram looking animal). The Network members are supposedly "avid members" of the church of lushotology.

With this evidence I do believe it is another "secret" band of Green Day. Hope this helps.

Where is there hot tubs at in the east bay?

Answer
Well I have seen a lot of pictures of girls on instagram with the caption "Hot tubbin' in the Oakland hills bitches!!" so just ring every door bell in the hills or in Piedmont, and I'm sure you'll find some.

If you choose to come to Texas, then go to San Antonio. You can stay at one of the hotels right on the River Walk in downtown San Antonio. They have swimming pools and hot tubs and there is even a mall on the River Walk. The River Walk is lined with restaurants and clubs so you should find everything you're looking for .

What are my options for quality Caribbean cruises?

Q. I know of companies like Carnival that are known for fun cruises.. But the first step of my research starts here - I would like to know the options for quality Caribbean cruise companies with the most bang for the buck.

There will be three people - all family, and all are adults (18 is the youngest). The timeframe is aimed around mid-July.

It is preferred to leave from the port of Houston/Galveston.

One week cruises is the goal, but if two week cruises are available for reasonable prices then great!

Once again, I'm not looking for quotes and solicitation, just the options available for Caribbean cruises from either personal experience or straight known facts.

Enlighten me, please!

May I accentuate a previous statement.. I'm only asking for personal experiences. Opinions! I've used google to get some prices and some companies, but i can't ask google about it's personal experiences with a cruise. Learn to read you asshat, flock.

Answer
Ok, you seem to want information from people who have actually cruised. I have been on more than 20 cruises on Princess, Celebrity, Holland America, Norwegian, and Royal Caribbean ships. I can vouch that they are good cruise lines and you are correct in that there are some differences that you need to be aware of in making your selection of which is "best".

Princess, Celebrity and Holland America have great ships are more classy and reserved. They are just a little more upscale and luxurious than the other cruise lines. Passengers tend to be middle aged and up and have cruised multiple times. Holland America has mostly senior citizens (65 and up) cruising on its ships and very few kids and young people. I found that most people on these lines were kinda stand-offish and aloft

Norwegian cruise line is good ( I have done 8 NCL cruises) , they cater to families and have mostly passengers in the range of age 35-40 and up. Its the line that you want to go on if you want to be informal for pretty much your whole cruise. They have formal nights like other cruise lines but they do not stress dressing up; they call it "dress up if you want to" night. Norwegian has the most alternative eating places on their ships, but you will have to pay a fee of $10 to $20 per person per visit to eat at some of them. All other cruise lines also have these alternatives but usually only two such places.

Carnival is the budget cruise line that generally has the lowest prices. They cater to young people, first time cruiser and families. Most of their cruiser will be in the 20 to 45 age group and there will be lots of kids on board. Their ships have some good on-board activities like water slides and basketball court. The best of their ships are their newer ships so do pay attention to when the ship was launched is you find a good and really cheap cruise.

Royal Caribbean is also a cruise line that caters to young cruiser and families; ages about 25/30 to 60. It has the advantage of having the most on-board activities, like ice skating, roller skating, mini-golf course, a basketball/tennis court, the rock climbing wall, and on the new Oasis and Freedom Class ships the surfing simulator, the Flowrider. The RC ships that you should look for cruises on are the RC's Oasis Class, Freedom Class, and Voyager Class ships.

For me the best cruise lines is Royal Caribbean and they do cruise from Galveston and that is the one that I recommend. My recommendation, and its based on many cruises with several cruise lines, is to take a cruise on Royal Caribbean on their Voyager of the Seas. This ship has the most free, included in your cruise price, on-board activities. Things like the a gym, pools, hot tubs, rock climbing wall, basketball court, mini-golf course, ice skating, in-line roller skating, casino, disco and a variety of lounges. I have not cruised on the Voyager but I have cruised on two of its twins sister Voyager Class ships, the Mariner of the Seas and the Adventure of the Seas, which are identical. You can look at the ship's details on this web link:
http://www.royalcaribbean.com/findacruise/ships/class/ship/home.do;jsessionid=0000Qogp63PhFZVTmCDZhrPZXXH:12hdhu6tq?shipCode=VY

You are aware I am sure that the Galveston cruise port was heavily damaged by a hurricane a year or so ago and my not be the best departure port.

Hot Spring Spas Vangaurd hot tub a good choice?

Nathan Hop

Hey everyone, my family is going to buy a hot springs hot tub ( no other brand will due), we are strongly leaning towards a factory new Vangaurd. We especially like this tub due to its roominess and the fact that it doesn't have a lounger. We do not want/ need a full lounger as they are it a waste of space in our opinion. Has anyone had this tub? Pros and cons? We live in Arkansas if that somehow helps, as I know climate can be an effect on some tubs. We will be placing it out our very spacious patio and the price nor space is any issue. Thanks everyone!

Answer
Congrats on your choice. the Vanguard is a great spa.For spa users looking to have an open design with fabulous massage action, this spa will give you a lot of variety. I have sold a lot of this model and seriously customers love love love it.
Happy hot tubing.
