What is the best hotel to stay in at Virginia Beach's oceanfront?

Q. I have stayed at the Holiday Inn Sunspree, and it was pretty nice. It was a little outdated though. I was thinking about staying at the Fairfield Inn & Suites, because it has good reviews. My husband and I and our 3 kids will be going. They are 4,6, and11. Anyone been there and stayed at a great hotel? We would like to stay in a suite again. Please give us some suggestions.

Answer
I really cannot express enough to you DO NOT stay at the Howard Johnson's!!!

My husband and I took our daughter and a nephew who were at the time 8 and 9 years old. When we got into our room, there was still sand everywhere from the previous occupants. There was also food crumbs along the furniture. It was quite obvious that their housekeeping was poore quality. By the time we got done touring the area, it was late and we were all ready for bed. My husband and I climbed into our bed. We decided to stay up a little longer and watch some TV. I kept smelling something odd. I couldn't quite point my finger on what the smell was. The next morning we got up and I was still smelling that odd odor. I pulled the covers back on the bed we wer sleeping in and in the middle was a huge orange urine stain in the bed we had just slept in! I was so disgusted that I called the manager to come up and see what I found and also insisted on housekeeping come to clean immediately. While waiting on the manager, I stripped the bed completely and stripped the bed the children slept in. While stripping the children's bed, I found an USED HYPODERMIC NEEDLE on the floor next to the bed they were sleeping in!!! By that time, I was beyond livid! When the manager came up finally, she acted like it was no big deal. She told the housekeeper to remake the beds and vacuum. I stayed in the room while she "cleaned" while my husband took the kids to the beach. All she tried to get away with was barely vacuuming the traffic area. I was not satisfied and made her vacuum every inch of the room. (which should have been done before they ever rented the room out to begin with!) Later that day, it started to rain, so the kids asked to go to the indoor pool. That too was a nasty mess! The water was murky, the entire floor was cracked and covered in sand. The hot tub was also murky and even worse, literally slimy. Needless to say we left a couple of days early.
And what's worse, is even after all we went through, they refused to give us a discount on the room!

Please Please Please do not stay at the Howard Johnson's!!!

Handwashing my BJJ Gi?

Q. I only have hot water for our washing machine. (LONG STORY) and I know that, that is definitely NOT good for a Gi. I have a Gold Weave Gi, I'm only 15 and worked with my Dad to buy it myself. Anyways, I used to live with my Dad and washed it there with his washing machines but never heat dried them; he made a post where I could hang dry it in the sun. My Dad lives in a "richer" part of the city so doing any of that wasn't an issue. I recently moved in with my Mom and wouldn't know how to go about hand washing and drying it.. It's a black Gi btw, I'm also a Green belt with 1 stripe. Could I just hang it in my room? I train every day except Sunday for 2- 4 hours a day.

Answer
Buy some Woolite Dark, and hand wash the Gi in a large sink or bath tub. Just make sure there's enough water to cover it completely, and let it sit for 30 minutes or so in the water after you've squished the water through it pretty well.

To rinse it, drain the sink/tub and squish the jutsugi in running water (don't wring it out - the twisting when it's that wet can screw it up) until you don't see obvious soap. Refill the sink and let it soak just a few minutes in clean water to get the remainder of the soap out.

Roll it up loosely, and squish it as best you can to get some of the water out. To dry it, your best bet will be to hang it on a thick plastic hanger on the shower curtain. Put a towel under the jutsugi to keep it from dripping all over the floor. Use a dark towel (buy one at a discount store if you don't have one) so your mother doesn't kill you for staining her towels. :)

EDIT: Oh, and as the first response says, buy at least one more jutsugi. They can take a long time to dry, and having a second will mean you aren't packing a damp uniform.
