can I use bromine and chlorine in my hot tub?

Answer
NO. Please do not mix the two. If you are currently using chlorine then either drain the hot tub and start over or wait until the chlorine tests at zero and then change over.

Bromine is better for hot tubs because it is more stable than chlorine in higher temps.

Answer
This is a mercy answer - you've given almost no informsation that is useful in understanding precisely what your question is. If you mean you stuck the Ph strip in the hot tub and it came out as too acidic or too alkaline then that's one thing. Free chlorine is what kills off the bacteria, it's good to have it high, to a point. When chlorine combines with ammonia, body sweat, etc. it forms chloramines and the chlorine isn't "free" anymore. Chloramines are what causes the chlorine smell that people talk about incorrectly. So how do you get rid of chlorimines? You superclorinate and when you do that you do not want to be in the hot tub until it's done and your Ph strips show everything is back to normal.
