someone told me that i can have a misscarage if i go in the water is that true? or too much sun?
I live in NY and i want to go to Fl for a few days is that safe?
Answer
That is not true. They actually offer water aerobic classes for pregnant women. The only thing they say is you should not get in a hot tub because you don't want your baby to get too warm or take a hot bath with bubbles or salts. If you take a warm bath that is fine, but not a hot one. As far as the sun goes, some sun is good for you, but listen to your body. Don't get really overheated as your baby is already warm enough so make sure you take enough dips in the pool to keep you cool. Have fun! I wish I could go!
If that were true, then pregnant people wouldn't be able to take showers!

Is IUI or IVF the ONLY solution for low sperm count?

Sandra D
My husband's sperm analysis show low sperm count but the urologist referred him to an infertility specialist. I thought maybe the urologist was going to prescribe him some medication. We have the appointment next week but we find out is a very famous clinic. I am just afraid that before trying any medication they are going to try to make some money from us (that is their business after all) and maybe they are going to try to do IUI or IVF. What do you think should be the next step. Should we try to get a second opinion?
Answer
You can always get a second opinion, but in the mean time you can encourage your husband to alter his behavior to increase his sperm count. For example, have him wear boxers instead of briefs, avoid large amounts of caffeince, quit smoking, avoid alcohol, and avoid saunas and hot tubs. It takes something like 6 weeks for sperm to be created, so what he does now will affect the count 6 weeks from now. My husband had low motility, but a good count. He changed his behaviors (cut down on diet pepsi, stopped drinking/smoking) and by the time of our IUI, his count was normal. If they do recommend IUI/IVF, I would suggest you do at least 3 rounds of IUI before IVF. I got pregnant on my first IUI and so could you.
