Backpacking Through New Zealand?

â want to backpack across new Zealand on my own time not with a tour group or anything like that. I want to start at the bottom of the south island and work my way up to Auckland. I want to hit most of the best places to see and some cool towns. Any information would be greatly appreciated, Thanks!

We are doing the same thing in March for 4 weeks, but starting in Auckland. Are you doing any of the hikes?

One great day hike is Tongariro. We're also doing Heaphy and Queen Charlotte. You must have permits and these may be unavailable if you don't plan ahead.

We're also looking for small, quaint towns. Looking for a place we can hear local bands, too.

Are there any female-only nude beaches?

I like the idea of relaxing and sunbathing in the nude, but I don't want any men gawking at my body. Does anyone where there are any or if they even exist? And I don't care if there are lesbians â just no men.

Beaches (in the US) no, although I believe I've heard of that in Europe.

You can find female only clothing optional hot springs or spas in the US, and an occasional female only clothing optional sun deck. Below are a few.
