How much would it cost to heat a hot tub 4 a month? Is it cheaper to leave it on all month or heat each use?

My roommates and I have a hot tub, but don't want to pay to heat it up all month. This gets annoying when you have to turn it on 3 hours in advance to when you want to use it. Some people say it would be cheaper to heat it once and leave it on then having to re-heat the entire thing every time (once or two times a month). I just want to leave the thing on all month...anybody know an estimated cost for heating it for the whole month?

What do you think about cutting a brand new hot tub in 4 peices to bring it into a basement so it can fit?

I have a basement thats finished. Large and nicely lit. I want a hot tub but I cant make it fit down the stairs and into the place. So i have contacted a fiberglass boat repair shop who claims they can slice it up into 4 peices (http://www.boatcrafts.net/). He will cut it into peices that will fit downstairs.. Chop down all the pipes and then when he puts it back together he will fix each pipe with PCV glue and additional pipes. I am just wondering if anyone sees anything wrong with this idea? There is no other way to get it into the basement. The idea is crazy I know but its only fiberglass.. And if there ends up being a seem of some kind.. I dont care too much. The idea is just to have a hottub function in that spot... This is the ONLY WAY... the other option is to dig a hole and do a gunnight cement version.. but its priced at $50k.. Not interested in this investment.. Too crazy...

I have a hot tub but it is located outside, which we thoroughly enjoy all year, we live in Canada, our favorite time in it is in the winter. Why not have it outside, I would be very concerned about taking the chance of cutting into pieces to make it fit. Also you want to make sure that your ventilation is proper in the room you want it in as that much moisture will cause mould in the home if not properly ventilated. I guess I'm not helping any only adding to your delemia. Good Luck in making your decision. Don't do anything rash right away.
