hot tub $500 image

RandolphH
Im considering getting a backyard hot tub and want to understand all the costs involved.
Most hot tubs require a 240-volt electrical gfci outlet so I will need this outlet installed outside.
How much would an electrician charge for this job?
I live in the North East.
Thanks
Answer
anywhere between 100-500 quid depending on how good the electrician is, dont go for the cheapest but dont go for the most expensive. to tell if you have a good tradesmen check for few signs, is his van neat and tidy, signwritten? does he have a uniform or proper work clothes not just scabby jeans and t shirt? does he have an apprentice or another guy with him? this would indicate he is getting a lot of regular work which shows he can be trusted and is a good tradesmen. alternatively there is a search for check a trade in google however not every tradesmen is registered, im not but still get work and my work is still quality.
More importantly dont do it your self if you dont know what your doing i.e. what size and type of cable required, swa cable will be the choice most sparks will use (and should use) which is slightly more expensive the size depends on the current it will have to carry i.e how much current the hot tub is, how many amps it uses. but Part P regualtions and the law states no work is to be undertaken by anyone not part p registered hope this helped

How much can I expect a hot tub to cost?

Lady Stran
I am looking for a nice 6 person hot tub w/ an ipod hook up.
No website will give me an estimate.
Answer
An outdoor tub needs to be installed on a level deck or concrete pad. Building a wooden deck can add $500 -$15,000 or more to the total cost, depending on size and complexity; a concrete pad can run $1,000 -$3,000 or more. If the installation site isn't already correctly wired or plumbed, adding an electrical outlet can add $75 -$800 to the total cost, and can be $1,000 -$2,000 or more for extensive electrical and plumbing trenching and installation.
Installing a spa indoors means being able to use it in all weather and with complete privacy, but you need a room with extra ventilation and humidity controls, and a water-proof flooring such as tile. Costs will depend on the extent of remodeling needed.
An in-ground outdoor spa averages about $15,000 -$20,000 or more, according to Better Homes & Gardens.
