My hot tub blows the breaker at the disconnect after exactly 60 seconds. it still heats and both pumps are operational. furthermore, if I turn the jets on the tub stays on as long as the jets stay on. it is a 1998 cal spas tub, and has been working fine for two months and now is doing this. there is a possibility that something could have gotten wet as well. It is strange because the tub will actually throw codes if something is wrong, but It doesn't throw any currently, it just flips the breaker.
Ideas?
Thanks!

Answer
The breaker is being overloaded or it is a bad breaker. How many amps are you pulling off that breaker. You should have a breaker that carries a load equal to or a few amps higher than the maximum load that your spa needs. Make sure your filters are clean. Dirty filters will cause the pumps to draw more amps.

I have answered your electrical problem with the breaker tripping. You will have to determine if the breaker is bad or being overloaded. replace the breaker with the same amp breaker because the breaker protects your wiring. If the spa Tripp's the new breaker the problem would be the amps being pulled on that circuit. the spa should be the only thing on that circuit. Is your spa on a 110 or 220 circuit? what size is your breaker?

How do I turn down my 2003 Cal Spa Pneumatic Series hot tub?

Q. I just moved into a house with a Spa from Cal Spas. The owners manual says it's for Pneumatic electronic series 1100, 2300, 5000, 7000, and 9000. I'm not sure which one mine is but I can't find anything on how to set my default temp on it. I've tried putting it in different modes and pressing the temp down button but it won't go below 80 degrees. Any ideas?

Answer
Typical operating temperature for a hot tub is 102- 104 degrees F

It is not designed to go down below 80 degrees F if you want it lower than that, shut it off.
