I have no idea how a cruise works, i need some info on what there is to do on a cruise and dinning, Does a cruise include food? I want to go to Alaska from Seattle. Does anyone know any details? Thanks =)

Answer
I cruise a lot, been on more than 20 and here's my advice based on my experiences.

All cruise cabins are sold based on double occupancy and the prices listed will be per person and based on at least two people going on the cruise. The price you pay will depend mostly on the type cabin/accommodations that you choose. There are 4 basic types of cabins on ships;
- inside (no window),................................⦠least expensive
- outside (a window or porthole),
- balcony/veranda, and
- suites and penthouses.......................... most expensive.

The "FROM" prices you see will always be for an inside cabin. There are also some subcategories within each category with cabins on a higher deck, and/or a better location on ship (like midship), and/or that are slightly larger costing more. So as you browse, pay attention to the square footage of the cabins.

You can reserve a cruise by (1) booking on line; (2) by calling the cruise line, or (3) through a travel agent. You will pay at booking the minimum deposit which will be between $250 and $350 per person for a 7 day cruise, depending upon the cruise line. The minimum will be more for a longer cruise, for example $450 per person for a 14 day cruise. The balance will be due approximately 60 days before the cruise departure date. But you can make periodic payment on line, with your travel agent, or with the cruise line. I have reserved on line and made payments many times. If you book within about 60 days of the cruise you will likely have to pay the full amount.

I have cruised on Princess, Celebrity, Norwegian, Holland America and Royal Caribbean ships and can vouch that they are good cruise lines. However, there are some differences.

- Princess, Celebrity and Holland America have great ships are more classy and reserved. They are just a little more upscale and luxurious than the other cruise lines. Passengers tend to be middle aged and up and have cruised multiple times. Holland America has mostly senior citizens cruising on its ships.

-Norwegian cruise line is good, they cater to families and have mostly passengers in the range of age 35-40 and up. Its the line that you want to go on if you want to be informal for pretty much your whole cruise. They have formal nights like other cruise lines but they do not stress dressing up; the call it "dress up if you want to" night.

Carnival is the budget cruise line that generally has the lowest prices. They cater to young people, first time cruiser and families. The best of their ships are their newer ships so do pay attention to when the ship was launched is you find a really cheap cruise.

Royal Caribbean is also a cruise line that caters to young cruiser and families. It has the advantage of having the most on-board activities. Things like ice skating, roller blading, mini-golf course, a full sized basketball/tennis court, the rock climbing wall, and on the new Freedom Class ships the surfing simulator, the Flowrider.

For the most part all cruises are all inclusive. Regardless of which cruise line you select the things that are included are pretty much the same. The price of your cruise includes your cabin, all meals (including breakfast, lunch dinner, snacks and free room service), free admissions to all shows and entertainment, and free use of all facilities on ship like the pools, hots tubs, gym, disco, etc,., except spa services. The things that you will have to pay for are gratuities (tips) alcoholic drinks and soft drinks, photos that you want, any tours from the ship you want to take, spa services like massages, and internet service. Gratuities will be about $10 per day per person and cover the cabin steward, waiter and assistant and the Matre'd. Other tips are added to drink orders at a rate of 15%.

There are several ways to have a cruise to Alaska. You can cruise north from San Francisco, Seattle, or Vancouver, Canada or cruise south from Anchorage (Whittier or Seward). Cruises typically cruise the "inside passage" which is a waterway much like a river where you can in most places see land on both sides of the ship. It provides a very smooth ride on that part of the cruise. Cruises typically go to Juneau (the capitol), and Ketchikan, Skagway, and stop at one or more glaciers like Glacier Bay National Park and College Fjord. Some cruises do other port stops. So you need to pay attention to which itinerary (port stops) the cruises will have.

The best time to go on an Alaska cruise is when you can get the best price. The Alaska cruise season is from May to Sept. The best prices will be in May and Sept but you will see the same things as other times. Its best to book your cruise early to get the best price and also because cruises do sell out and the best cabins go first. I do recommend a balcony cabin as you'll enjoy your cruise more; be able to see the scenery without leaving your cabin. To pick the best date, go with the dates with the best prices.

i got a cut yesterday on metal what should i do?

spunk rans

i cut myself pretty bad on the faucet in my tub (its on my back) and the metal is a bit rusted on the underside. i dont know if the rust got in my cut it happened pretty fast ( i fell in the bathtub) stupidly, i didnt clean it afterwards, and not its puffy, red (a bruised) hurting, and hot to the touch.
Do i need to go to a doctor?
im not in the UK, Im in canada, so its free to go to the doctors as well :P

Answer
I guess you are thinking of tetanus? It not actually caused by rusty metal. It's caused by an anaerobic bacteria that likes to live in a dark, airless environment. A rusty nail that's been lying around and dirt and debris is just an ideal way to deliver it to whichever unfortunate person happens to step on it. That's always the example given in textbooks, I think that's why people assume that it is caused by rust.

At any rate, I think you'll be fine. Since you live in Canada, you've probably gotten all of your vaccines, including the one for Tetanus, which is good for up to ten years.
