I'd like to send her to a spa and I narrowed it down to 2 spas.
#1: Spa located in a beautifully decorated cave. they also have a general room with steam room and a hot tub, and all of their packages include a glass of champagne. Should be super relaxing and rejuvenating. For my budget I can get:
Volare
Oh oh oh oh! A different kind of Flight awaits you! Choose any Body Scrub, followed by a 25 minute Massage and Espresso Facial. Red or White Flight follows in our Estate Cave Tasting Room!
One and a half hours $205
or

Solo Vino
Our Signature Package, this body libation begins with an Exfoliating Grape seed scrub, followed by an invigorating jet shower rinse and a decadent Body Wrap with Wine Cave Mud. A 50 minute Massage ends this Napa favorite!
Fruit and Cheese Tray included.
2 hours $255

Spa #2 has an outdoor Olympic size mineral pool, fed directly by the geysers and a steam room is right next to the pool. This spa is supposedly more healing and therapeutic.
Taking the Waters (2 hours)
⢠Mudbath
⢠Half Session Massage
⢠Signature Half Session Facial (Pevonia products)
$225

Both are supposed to be 5 star spas, but they have different focuses. Personally I would pick spa #1, but my mom suffers from chronic back pains and she loves mud baths that the first spa does not offer. Also its going to be in a few weeks, so the weather should be beautiful, spa #1 is in doors, while Spa #2 has outdoor amenities and we can turn it into a whole day experience, but they don't give you champagne or cheese. So I don't know which one to pick.

Answer
lol first of all.. very nice choices,, very lucky mom. Secondly, maybe say make up a story be creative about it to get the answer, to know what shed really like. Go to the mall go to a bath and bodyworks or what have you mention to the sample lady if she might be ok with doing a small favor.
when u go to the mall the next day drag ur mom in. tell her theres something u have to get or smell etc. and the lady will walk up casually to her mention somting about one of the products having mud or scrubs, facials etc?? i dont know just to see what direction she goes. what r ur moms main beauty concerns.. ur mom will love it either way, but all you went thru will make it a classic. Sneaky but for the right reason..YOUR MOM!!!

oh, and you can always get ur dad to gt the champagne adn cheese basket. lol

How can I cool off and sleep when it's super hot outside and my dad won't let us keep the air con on at night?

Rory

It's so hot I can't sleep! He lets us have the air con on during the day but says its too expensive to keep it running thru the night. I've had a hard time sleeping this whole week because it's too hot. We're in the US for the summer and it gets so much hotter here than at home.

What else can I do? I can't just eat ice cream round the clock.
I'm so hot now!! :(

Thanx for your ideas. What do you do when your really hot? This is just so miserable. I didnt know it could get this hot when the suns not out!

Answer
It seems contradictory to take a warm bath to cool off on a hot summer day, but it's what I often do. I set a relaxing, mentally-cooling vibe by turning off the overhead lights in my bathroom and switching on the string of lights I have around my vanity mirror. I light a couple of candles. I plug my iPhone into portable speakers and play music that soothes my overheated mind. I liberally pour Dr. Bronner's Magic Peppermint Castile Soap (the liquid soap, not the bar) into the water's stream as the tub is filling. I then drizzle it over the top of the water and climb in. The soap is loaded with pure peppermint oil that will cool and calm you. The peppermint oil has the same tingling, refreshing effect on your body as popping a peppermint into your mouth does. The menthol from the soap tends to linger on my skin and keep me contentedly cool longer after I've gotten out of the bath. You'd be surprised at how much it can calm and cool your body and help lull you into a good sleep.

While I'm soaking I like to have some iced water with a tangerine slice or strawberry and sometimes a homemade popsicle. I also will sometimes fill up a little foot spa with cold water and the peppermint soap so I can keep working from my laptop as I'm cooling off. It doesn't usually get hot enough on my side of town for that to be necessary, but it feels delightful.

If taking a bath isn't a feasible option I French braid my hair and then carefully stick a couple cubes of ice into it. We have heart-shaped ice cube trays, so the ice has softer edges than the block-like ones and fit easily into my braid. The hair will create a barrier so the ice isn't directly on my scalp, but will keep it close enough to my head to cool my whole body down. I also run my wrists upside down under cold water for a minute.

We used to spend a few weeks in the summer at my grandparent's charming old lake house that had no air conditioning, and on the few nights that were scorchers I'd sleep with "ice babies." My mom would fill a tall plastic bottle about two thirds of the way up with water and then put it in the freezer until it was completely frozen. We'd take it out at night, slip a pillow case over it, and then I'd hug it while I slept. It works!

If it's late at night where you are the moment you might disturb other family members by taking a bath, but try that out tomorrow if you can. For now go run your wrists under cold water and drink half a glass of iced water. Wrap some ice cubes in a cloth and lie down with it on your forehead for a few minutes. Close your eyes and relax. Take a cube and put it over a thin tissue then carefully put one on each of your eyes while you have them closed. If you are in a two-story house you might want to try to sleep on a lower floor since heat rises. Put a sleeping bag or a quilt on the floor and sleep on top of it with your pillow. Try to turn off as many electrical devices near you since they all generate heat. I know that when you're hot and miserable and can't sleep it's temping to come online, but many computers can run upwards of 100 degrees so being in proximity to them worsens the situation.

Sleep in loose cotton shorts and a tee shirt or in a cotton night gown. Many people think that it's best to sleep in the nude when they're hot, but actually it can make you even hotter because there's nothing to wick up your sweat. You need lightweight clothing. Use just a thin sheet over you as a cover and take the down comforter, quilts or blankets off your bed.

If the air conditioner is off, keep your windows and your door open during the day so heat doesn't become trapped in there and to try to get a cross-breeze. If it's on, then close your windows and your door during the day. You can even close your drapes to help prevent the sunlight from making it warmer if you don't mind the lack of natural light in your room during the day. About an hour or two before you go to bed put an inexpensive box fan in your window to help suck out the hot air and cool the room down. Keep your door closed to keep the cool air in. Sleep with a smaller fan on the floor of the room if you can.

Try to think cool. It's possible to do. The more your focus your thoughts on the heat the more it will get to you. If after lying still for a while you can't sleep try reading a few chapters of a books so your mind will have something to focus on.

Best of luck!
