I have 3 daughters (ages 11, 7 and 7 months), my elderly mother, and my demanding and needy husband depending on me. And, I work full-time plus a part-time job. I have to work due to finances. I am getting so stressed from all of my responsibilities that I'm starting to not want to go home. I don't really feel happy with my life. Any suggestions?

Answer
Somehow you are going to have to manage some time for yourself, even if it is only 1 hour a week. If your husband can't manage the kids by himself for just one hour, then hire a cheap high school babysitter for the hour. Tell everyone that with all you do it is the least they can do for you to give you the one hour each week. Then turn the teapot on, pour a hot cup of tea, grab your favorite book, and retreat to the bath tub where you run a hot bubble bath and soak for an hour! Lock the door and refuse to open it unless the house is on fire. And stick to your guns, sometimes as a mom everyone wants you available on their terms but we are people also and have needs and our bodies need replenishing and strengthening just like the love and care you give to all of them throughout the week. If you find it absolutely impossible to get the one hour at home, then take your book to the local coffee house cafe or library, order a hot chocolate and read. You should find yourself at least a little refreshed having no demands being made on you for just that one hour. If you can manage more, go for it. Good luck and God Bless.

I have been going to a chiropractor for 40 years, I did not have that many instances where it hurt afterwards but usually not for more than an hour.

I have been greatly helped. I first went at the urging of my finance' when in a 55 mph wreck and his stories of his uncle and his experiences, but I was super scared. I was so tense, the chiropractor could not adjust me at all. Eventually my chiropractor could adjust me but I kept feeling like he was going to drop me and he had another man who had been a patient as a kid and then became a chiropractor and this guy was much better and I gradually switched to him.

I have been in about 25 wrecks another one at 55 mph and been run over by a car. I have had about 5 occasions with herniated disks. the worst was when I was ruin over. I was in a wheelchair most of the time for 15 months.

A neurologist said I needed immediate surgery but I refused as I knew my chiropractor had helped me before. The neurologist got so mad as I left to leave his office, he yelled down the hall at me "you'll be back in a week. I guarantee it, you will be in too much pain" I never went back. Ity took a few visits a week for 15 months but my chiropractor gradually got me from taking 20 minutes to alk tot he next room to use the bathroom (I could not take a shower for 3 months as I could not lift my leg high enough to get in the tub. I screamed with pain) to walkign 45 minutes at a time. I will never be normal as I had too many injuries but he got me to the top of the line of what I could recover.

I had an injury and 4 herniated disks 9 months ago..The pain was the 2nd worst I ever had. Unfortunately my insurance now only pays 1 visit a month which is not enough to get better with this bad an injury so I am enduring pain. The doctors offered steroid shot which did nothing but make me blood sugar surge too high for the meter to read. I am now trying acupuncture as it is cheaper than my chiropractor. I had abut 5 treatments but so far nothing. Given my chose, I would chose chiropractic anyday over both doctor and acupuncture.

You would be, in my opinion crazy to not go to a chiropractor. Choose one trained in the palmer method.

The government did a study and found chiropractic to be the most successful treatment followed by exercise. Medical treatments came in last in the study.

I will tell you this,

Sometimes it hurts worst until it feels better. Do not stop going if it does. the reason for this is the adjustment puts it back in the right place but the muscles pull it back and you do not hold the adjustment. After a while the muscle get used to the right place and the adjustment holds longer and longer till one day, you are back to normal. The pain usually does not last the long I found but it can feel worst for a while when first getting started but it is worth it as nothing helps like chiropractic. I trusted my chiropractor so much I took my 2 year old and 8 year old to him back then and treated them till they left home.

I would also try hot and cold showers --directions below

also try a capsicum cream or a##kisser cream or try deep tissue repair sold at herbdoc.com

I also use magnelyfe magnets (use waterproof first aid tape to hold them on instead of the tape in the package which falls off...these really help.

Do not be afraid chiropractic unless you have a very bad chiropractor will not make it worst bvut exceedingly better. I always let fear stop me but thankfully stuck with it. I shudder to think how bad I might be with all those wrecks without my chiropractic. Many in my shoes would have been candidates for surgery and many are ruined for life with this. have faith and go..it is well worth it but it sometimes takes 2-3 visits a week for a while. gradually you will be going less and less.
