how cold and hot streams become one in different parts of the United States, like how the diff streams collided due to temperature.

Answer
I'll try to explain this in simple terms. I will explain to you, so that you can understand and then help explain it to the first grader who may want more answers.

Air acts just like any fluid. If you think about how air moves in the atmosphere, they move just like what you would see in the ocean, bath tub, or fish tank.

Like water, air flows in 3-D. The jets of air will move just like the current in the ocean in 3-D and act somewhat like a river current in 2-D.

Jet streams are just air moving faster than the air current around it. Air moves because mother nature is trying to balance the energy that it gets from outside sources...example solar energy from the sun and heat energy from the below the surface of the earth. Since the sun is not shining everywhere at the same time or at the same angle, there will always be somewhere where at one moment in time where they will get more sun energy then others. In other words, it is daytime here but on the other side of the world it is now dark.

So mother nature would try to balance this by moving the warm air to the colder areas and this will dislodge a cold pocket of air towards the warmer area.

With the sun angle so low in the polar regions and so high near the the tropics, the tropics will get more energy than the polar regions of the Earth. To demonstrate this, shine a flash light towards a basket ball set about 10 feet away. You can see that the edge of the ball will be darker. In other words, this area gets less exposed to light energy. On Earth, the poles stay near this edge as it spins around on its axis of rotation.

So air moves because of this imbalance. The bigger the imbalance, the stronger and faster these streams will be. So if there is a big difference in temperature between the air over Canada and the air over Mexico, you can expect a much stronger jet stream of air between them. Storms occur as a result of this attempt to balanced this energy out. These current or streams of air will split and come together because the atmosphere motion is fluid...it is constantly changing.

Here is a simple demonstration to demonstrate this. Put a big drop of hot milk into a glass of cold water. Then try this with room temperature milk and room temperature water. Note what happens. See how fast the milk will mix out for both cases abd how much mixing you will see. Once they mixed out, things will look calm again. Same thing will happen in our atmosphere. The storm will die and the wind will become light when the warm and cold air finally combines or move away from each other.

That is the very basics fluid dynamics without blinding you with science. Hope this helps explain things in a different way.

Hot Tub Question troubleshooting?

Bill Lieve

I have a Dynasty Excaliber model The control panel is flashing 3 lights telling me it is not working properly. Does anyone know how to troubleshoot this problem. Thanks for any help you can provide
I tried that it doesn't show any thing about 3 flashing lights troubleshooting

Answer
Your hot tub may be similar to one of Canadian Spa Company's hot tubs. As for the flashing lights, it is better to ask your manufacturer for them to see the problem. It may have several problems leading to flashing of lights.
